I am sure as it was the case with 1978 bullets, a decompressor should take care of the kick back problem, I am not saying that the bikes should be kick only, but the addition would add say, an embellishment ?

Older Harleys and Indians were all kick start and they had decompression levers whic brought the compression down to kick startable levels. They were also less than 1300cc, the new ones are near 2litres and they don't have kick starts. The glamour pgmfi and bullet fi pulsar fi are all basic fuel injection bikes with fixed ignition timings so they can be kick started (but that doesn't mean kicking it will be a walk in the park except maybe the glamour). The decompressor is available on any bike with variable timing which none of the bikes mentioned by you have. And trust me (I own a bullet) if decompression is not done right you'll still have kickback. That is why bikes like ktm duke and above (variable ignition timing) come with electric starters and not kicks.

It might sound tedious, as will the wrong side gear shift and complex maintanence. But there is a peace and feeling of fulfilment in it that just can't be found in thumbing the starter and taking off like a rocket. Maybe I'm just romanticizing the idea but you'd have to do it to understand.
    Btw, its decomp-kick, recomp-kick or decomp(hold)- kick(immediately recomp). Its a crazy process.

Wait a minute so you are saying that that the older bullet 1978 had a variable ignition timing? Well I never heard of it, but anyways, yes, I got your point, but still the manufactures could have come up with a kick option on a lesser cc bike just to keep the retro charm, I mean as you mentioned there is nothing like the experience of kick starting a bike, something organic I suppose.

No i'm saying it had a big displacement and big displacement bikes need decompressors. but bikes with ECU's need to have the decompression computer controlled and therefore it is near impossible to kick start them without kickbacks and mismatched ignition. ECU controlled bikes are not the same as carb controlled ones.

But I do get your point on the charm front.
