Exclamation About duty on a cycle

Does anybody know what is the import duty on a cycle. I am planning to bring back a cycle for me, possibly a giant or some thing else maybe, when I come back home from china. So does anybody have any idea about it???

Default ^^^No mate you cant get all the bikes in India!

Well I used to think that too! But not anymore. I was planning on buying Giant or Merida branded cycle for my personal use but it turns out that Red Rooster Racing in Bangy are the only chaps who deal in Giants for our great nation of India. Also further communication with them reveled that [A] The particular cycles which I was considering are not available in India [B] The cycles which are comparable to the ones I was considering are available at a 4 times the price that of mainland PRC. Now given that I am a student who is still actively wasting his fathers hard earned money I dont think buying something for India was an option given that the giants are forever and have a better range and service/dealer network in china then that of any India based motorcycle manufactures.
Anyways I am returning to India next month and I am relying on Annexure 4 of the 2006 baggage rules amendment stating that an Indian citizen returning to motherland after an period of 2 years is allowed to bring back personal items(which includes non motorized bicycles) worth up to 75,000 rupees. And yeah a peek-a-boo of what I am bring back

@ vishwas : Yep they do sell Giants in India, and as far as I know Red Rooster Racing in Banglore are the only ones selling them. That pune one might be sold by RRR chaps. Also I have already bought an 2010 model OCR 3300 from a local Giant store and I am loving every minute I spend on it!!! It has cost me RMB 2298/-, which translates into Rs. 14477/- @ Rs 6.3 per 1 yuan. Now a comparable model, in terms of specs, available in India is 2009 TCR 3 sold at the price of Rs. 49,305/-. So hypothetically even if I have to pay 100% tax on my cycle ( which I am absolutely confident I wont have to ) I'll still end up saving Rs. 20351/-!!!

Anyways to know more about giant check out their webpage:Giant Bicycles
To check out RRRs list of products go to: Welcome to: Ride life ride giant
And to check out my bike see my album @ cicatrix's Album: Giant OCR 3300

I'll post detail review about the whole experience, from process of cycle selection to bringing it to India along with my review of the cycle with cool shoots after I am back in India.
