2010 Yeti Cycles 303-R DH Bike - Bikes | Reviews, Weight, Specs, Price | Vital MTB

Can you tell me from where to source some good suspension forks in India?
hi nipun!
the yeti 303 is one of my favourite dh bikes of all time. the only thing that holds me back from getting that bike, is its hefty price tag. 7000 US $.

if you want good suspension forks, you will have to import it. marzocchi, BOS manitou, rockshox, xfusion, fox , magura are some companies that make suspension forks , with technologies and materials so advanced, that can put indian motorcycle suspensions to shame! i'm serious. those bicycle forks are multiple lightyears ahead when it comes to technology, sometimes surpassing foreign motorcycle forks too !

you however can get imported mountain bike forks, if you come to pune sometime. we have some forks lying around !

hi nipun, you will need to import an 80mm or 100mm, i have a manitou, which is on sale, you can see the fork in my bike's pic. its 130mm btw. it would jack up your bike by a couple of inches, and i dont believe suncross is designed to accept that kind of travel, you could end up shearing the headtube from the rest of the bike ! so whenever you intend to buy a fork, let me know. i'll ask my friend to get it for you.

i dont own a shop, but my friend does. loads of imported goodies for bikes there !

p.s. imported stuff is indeed expensive even for a working professional !!! lol

hi nipun, i dint mean to say that the suncross is not offroad worthy, but if you put a longer travel fork on a bike designed to accept lesser travel, the frame can self destruct, due to the increased leverage the longer fork puts on the frame.this is true also for imported mountain bikes. also, if you're really really serious about mountain biking, you need to upgrade to a better bike. the suncross wont be able to handle the constant abuse. for a few rides, it could hold up. and regards to the head tube size, i'll elaborate a bit.

indian bikes comes with 1 inch steerers ( the diameter of the tube(which is a part of the fork) which goes inside the headtube ( which is a part of the frame)

imported bikes ( road bikes, mountain bikes, track bikes, bmx , et al ) comes with 1 - 1/8th inch steerers. this is a very common size everywhere. your suncross (probably ) has this size.( need to see pix of your bike to confirm)

1.5 steerers, these is somewhat of a new phenomenon. 1.5 steerers require massive headtubes. not used too frequently. advantage of this kind of set up is, increased strength of the frame due to increased weld contact area. also the rider can use a normal 1- 1/8th steerer with adapters. http://www.nicolai.net/imgs/prod/fea...07-1point5.jpg

tapered headtube, this is a very new trend in the mountain bike world. in such a setup, the upper part of the steerer is 1-1/8th inch diameter and the lower part of the steerer, which connects to the crown is 1.5 inches, which is like the best of both worlds ! http://www.nsmb.com/assets/images/ge...8/headtube.jpg

hope i've answered your query!

heh heh! it indeed is ! since you dont believe me,with the price of the discbrakes here's the linky HOPE TECH M4 HYDRAULIC DISC BRAKE at JensonUSA.com
and the price is for just one brake, i.e. the brake lever, lines, calipers, adapters, rotor and mounting bolts.

but since i'm a poor kid, mine is not as costly as this one ! lol

i was little busy so replying late.
I think 80mm will be fine enough because i am not a hardcore rider some off-road occasionally.
i checked the frame and suspension if i install 80mm the frame will jack-up about 1-2 inch which is not much of a consern considering 99% of the time i am riding on tarmac.
and it will not hurt the structure much.

can i get any 80mm shock under 6k?

you have a PM
