Default HELP !! Pulsar 180 front disc brake

Hi All,

i am almost done with bajaj, after the service they are giving me !! Travelled 3 major cities(chennai, hyd, bangalore) with my bike as part of my job transfer's and one thing i see in common 'bajaj service sucks'

Ok now to my problem.. i need your advice in getting my front disc of P180 fixed. It all started a year back when i started hearing sound from front disc. got it to a bajaj service where they replaced the disc pads.. OK for now i thought but had that sound stilll though much more silent from the new pad's.

when i'ev asked the same, the 'engineer' or so called guy told me it was normal and would eventually become ok !!! and so did i believe. Less than a month the same problem started , and this time ' the engineer' changed the oil , put some carburetor cleaner or stuff to make it quiet..ok quiet for now.

Still the rubbing was there !! " and hey there's no arguing with the 'engineer's' cause they always have that " it will be fixed after some run" thing..

that was for one month after i again started getting the rubbing noise and this time i could recognize the pad was gone again !!

Here's what i have noticed,
> the pad is rubbing the disc at only some point
> at some point the pad is stuck on the disc , quite apparent as you can feel the lock..

Please advice me, i dont know where to get it fixed and the bajaj 'engineers' are eating away my money without any particular work!!!!

Is there any place around bangalore where you'd recommend this could be fixed for once ??

Hii,,
I think that ur disc(round kind of thing on ur front wheel) is out. Had ur bike earlier met with an accident or fallen somewhere,if yes,the impact mite have caused the disc to tilt a bit, hence ur pads come in regular contact with the disc, thus creating that noise and worning it(pads) out early. You can check this by stationing a screwdriver near ur disc,by keeping only a mm distance and rotate ur wheel,, see if it comes in contact with a particular portion of disc ,,if yes,,then this is where ur problem lies
This is just my insight on this problem, cause a week back i too was facing this similar problem on my p150 and this method is what my mech did.
Experts here may shed some more light on this query ,,,,,, ;-)

Yeah, you need to straighten out your disc.

i had the same prob,.thr should not be any lock of front wheel when u try to move it by hand while the bike on main stand,.........thw wheel will rotate freely.

get your disk unit checked if its out of alignment then change it(best opt) or get it polished.i got it polished and its workin ok.

Take your bike to Auto Service, in Banashankari. If they can't do it, not other Bajaj SC can do it!

i had a problem once, the mech did replaced the pad, & to my belief it reoccured after few days, i asked him, is it normal as its a new pad,

my bike has fallen 1-2 times, so i went ahead & checked my wheels for any wheels-out, caus m using a spoke wheel rather than mag's / alloys ..

& now after quite a while, after lot of riding, as m a frequent front disc brake rider, the noise has been stopped.

so the point is that the issue couldd lie with the disc, brake pad, wheel itself

Hi ,
I am having almost the same problem . My Pulsar is having spoke rim . The old Disk brake was only making noise while the bike was moved , most of the times during parking . But , recently I replaced the front brake pad with newer ones , now the front brake is moaning noise as if like a Govt Bus braking . It is making this irritating sound when the bike is ridden . The sound goes when the front brake is applied . I think the pads are not of good quality as there is no issues with alignment of disk plate or the rim . I am waiting for few more kms , then I will check with the brake fluid level as it is not able to hold back due to lower hydralic pressure , i think so .

Anybody has a solution , pls advise / share .

I had this issue for quite some time where the brake was squealing and I have to pull the lever completely back for the brake to engage.

Basic question:

How is the action of brake lever ? Do you feel that springy action ? Does it travel back to normal position once you apply the brake and release it ?

I went to Bajaj ASC and Castrol Bike zone and they were not able to solve it.

I went to a local mechanic and he examined for some time and found it was an issue with the cylinders. The pistons were worn out and they were not either pushing the oil enough or do not come back enough after pushing the oil.

He first replaced the slave cylinder (near the disc) and then the problem vanished.

It re-appeared after few thousand kms and I also got the master cylinder changed (near the brake lever).

The brakes were back to their glorious best.

You won't believe me, due to the issue with the Master cylinder, the brake lever will not action properly due to which my brake light will not glow if I use the front brake.

None, but a small time local mechanic was able to find the root cause.

PS: Bajaj calls the Master cylinder spares as the Major kit - Comes with O-ring and piston, springs and the Slave cylinder as Minor Kit.
