Default Battery & headlight upgrade for yamaha gladiator rs

Can anyone tell me if a 12v7ah battery can be used on a Gladiator RS . The standard battery rating is 12v5ah for RS/SS and other electric start gladis. I checked with a few mechanics and battery shop owners, they had no clue on what they were talking.

Has anyone used a battery of higher rating other than 12v5ah?

Also can I fit a higher wattage headlight bulb like the Halonix +60 55/60W without changing any wiring or RR ?.. has anyone tried it ?

Thanks in advance..

Yeah, you can fit a higher capacity battery. But for what use?

No, can not fit any 60/55W h/l w/o mods.

The higher rating battery should give me option to add dual horn and may be an additional fog lamp without putting strain on the battery. The current battery needs replacement as it is not holding charge so thought would rather go for a higher rating battery.

Has anyone tried a higher AH battery ?..like the 12v7AH or 12v9AH ..Will the alternator be able to charge the higher capacity battery.

What is the possible headlight upgrade for gladiator ?.. I understand that there is a tolerence for the electrical system and people are able to use higher wattage headlight bulbs on bikes like karizma and pulsar without modification.

I am not sure about the foglamp, but yes you can run dual horns. The alternator will charge, but it will be a bit slow. So, if you discharge it by adding too many loads, it will take time to charge itself. Other than that it is fine.

The new Pulsars and the Zma has DC electricals and hence can support the extra loads. If you do not want to do stuffs like coil rewinding, you can go for better branded 35/35 bulbs. That's all.

I have a HH Street which comes with 5aH battery for which i have put a 7ah battery. It charges fine. Just make sure that you have enough place to accommodate bigger battery without leakage of ACID. Putting a 9ah in place of 5ah is simpler than 7ah bcz 9ah width is less. You gotta do your own juggad work to mount bigger battery.

What is the point upgrading battery? I had a spare battery so i did .

Well Pulsar/ZMA also come with 35w stock bulb, you can upgrade your headlight by rewinding the coil and putting a higher watt - say 55/60w bulb or convert the headlight to DC and put higher watt bulb. If u don't ve plans of putting HID then better rewind coil rather then converting to DC. Converting to DC also needs rewind (based on load you put) and heavy duty RR unit and a good battery.

As long as ur current coil is not modified by rewinding or so, u will not be able to use the fogs extensively. I had a Samurai which came with a 5AH batt with no starter, or dual horn. Later I switched the batt with a 7AH after some chassis mod and the batt was cool even after loading a pair of 2 fogs (55X2) for 20 mins of ride and an 3 pipe air horn too. So it should support the charging if u are not using the fogs extensively. 110W will squeeze out of the battery within 15-20 mins. so is the batt life too.

Thanks guys ...

I think I will go in for a higher wattage battery...probably a 12v9ah as I'm planning to go for Amaron maintenance free (Amaron does not have a 12v7ah )
Tha 12v5ah costs Rs 1050 when checked with a dealer..guys any idea on the price of 12v9ah ?

As far the headlight is concerned I will stick to the standard rating and as abhijeet080808 suggested will go for a better branded one , may be Osram 35/35W. Suggestions anyone ....

^^ Osram NB/Phillips Extreme are 60/55W bulbs. Not suitable here.
