Default Classic 150 idle rpm fluctuates 15 mins after ride

Hi,

I am facing this problem after my last service. I have a 2003 Pulsar 150 (ya its old !!) its done 36K kms. When i start the bike in the morning the idle rpm is at a comfortable 1800, but 15 mins after riding the rpm rises to 3500 to 4000.

I got the carburetor cleaned, the petrol tank cleaned, checked the air fuel screw but still nothing has worked. Please help !

the idle rpm should be around 1.1 on a cold engine and 1.4 on a warmed up one . are you using right grade oil and is the A/f mix optimum ?

^^ you could, but you need to get them adjusted at the svc centre, using the correct clearance specifications.

I think the carb must be 'tuned' again by expert hands

I had this problem with my p150 initially when i fiddled with carb settings....
i took it to BAJAJ SVC
he tuned the carb and the idle rpm is 1000 ALWAYS......
its so silent that its hard to notice if engine is ON....

So get the carb tuned by a good mechanic immediately!!!

sarbanoxley, Your suggestion worked. Thanks a lot pal !! Thanks to others too for taking the time to reply.

I got the tappet setting done by a good mechanic in Borivali, Mumbai. Now the engine idles perfectly in the 1000-1200 RPM range. Its so smooth that i have to see the tacho to ensure its running
