Replacing the rear rim of Honda unicorn with fz16 rear rim �

I want to replace my rear rim of Honda uncorn with a fz16 rim for adding a 140mm tyre to my unicorn does this include swingarm replacement ?

For 130/80 18" tyre itself you ought to remove the chainguard to prevent fouling, with 140/60 17", the tyre sidewall would touch the chain and act like a second sprocket !

Alternate swingarm would be necessary but the FZ16 has a shorter wheelbase in comparision. Shorter swingarm length may hamper handling and smaller, heavier rims & tyres affect gearing.
(BTW the FZ has 5 spoke alloys and the Uni has 6 !)

FZ's wheel base is 1325mm which is 15mm shorter than uni...

so there will be no harm in handling.. xtreme, RTR 180 have 1325mm wheelbase they do not face any handling issues...

but will the swing arm fit the uni chassis (the pivoting point)

@dream horse - the chassis design, swingarm length etc do determine what the overall length is.

@OP - Dont go for it. Too complicated. go for the widest you can fit on a 18 inch rim, without fouling the chain.

widest tyre on stock 18" rim will make the bike much tall-geared and acceleration will drop .. sprocketing will be necessary then to retain stock performance ...

with a downsized 17" rim such side effects will be much less ...

original swing arm can be retained and may require slight modification .. but can give real PAIN IN A$$ at the events of punture ; tyre will shredded by chain my friend .. so a FZ swing arm will be better.

though wheel-base of fz may be shorter but it may be due to other factors like front fork angle .. swing arm can be fitted retaining the stock wheel base ..

with ur mech measure extensively all the dimensions of FZ swing arm incl shockup joint angle..

look wise it is THE ULTIMATE upgrade for unicorn and enhance it's meaty looks..

if u do planned to go for it u may consider following precaution ..

1] front sprocket and rear sprocket alignment
2] very short geared bike with 15\43 setup .. so find a 40T or 39T
3] u may have to ditch rear fender.
4] 18" front rim will hamper the handling so have to change that too to a 17 incher too ..


other then that i myself feel it wont harm anyway coz i myself running an 120\80-17 setup and feels quite satisfied ! very less change in Top-end .can still do ~125kmph.

Hehehe, i had been to The TVS plant for a industrial trip thought SAE, there we were given a presentation about the RTR180 and they told us how increasing the wheelbase by some 3mm radically changed the performance of the bike!
and you say 15mm is nothing!
The specs of each bike is finalized after months of R&D, and making such bold claims is a plain insult to the engineers who design these bikes....

Ciao boys, we don't have to forget that every bike do to the power at disposition as a certain dimension of wheels if you intervene on it and increase them you are going to lose power and you will pay more money for the needed gasoline. Being sad that and still you want to change your wheel with the one of the FZ for sure the change of the swing- arm is unavoidable.

Bro fz's wheelbase is 1335mm as per the yamaha india website.....

all said and done,but what about front and rear sprocket aligning??
after going in for such a wide tyre , ur front sprocket wont align with the rear if u change the swing arm. think about it.
