Default Skandagiri? - A Question

MODS: Am not sure where this question would go, so I started a new thread, can you please move it where you deem it valid.

For the guys in bangalore, skandagiri is an awesome trek. Am sure you all would have gone.

1.) My question is, since the new NH7 is done pretty neat, which exit do you have to take to reach Chikballapur / Skandagiri ?? I went there last weekend, only to realise that I had ridden around 150Kms in the middle of the night, alone, without finding the turn from you take left. (Mind you, it was not the first time I was going there. For me it is like once in a quarter trip to that place). So can anyone tell me the 'new' route??

2.) I hear it is now closed for public by the polic, because a huge mess (read garbage) is accumulating at the top. Any info on this ??

You have to stick to the NH7 highway until you get a Vivekananda statue to your left, this road leads to Chikballapur town. Once you enter this road, take a right turn at the deadend (there's a temple at the deadend) and a left turn at the next deadend. Follow the narrow road now and it will lead you to the base of the Skandagiri hills. The narrow road ends at the base of the hills so you cannot make any more mistakes from here I don't know about the old route that you talk about but I used this a few months ago and it was pretty much functional. Perhaps someone else who has gone more recently than me could elaborate.

Have a nice trip.

1)take the left where Chikballapur buses turn to enter the town. From there continue on the same road to reach skandagiri.

2)i dont know if they have stopped public to do the trek. Cos recently on friendship day my friends did the trek.
