Hello guys, I have a query. I have a Pulsar 150 (2008 model). The bike's manual states that the rear suspension is adjustable. What I want to ask is how can you do it. Is it done by 'rotating' the springs by their 'clicks' (or whatever they are called)?
Does the tool-kit provided contain the necessary tools for adjusting them or do I have to go a mechanic?
I find that the current suspension settings are too soft. I want to firm them up.
And are these settings called as Preload settings?

Please give details.

Dear Mate,

With due respect to your query, I would suggest you and others in general to please do some ground work before coming up with a question.

The company provides standard tool kit to adjust the suspension. Use it to stiffen the spring tension. if you can read the manual, it will guide you how to stiffen the tension.

And if you are not able to do it even after reading it, dont mess around with it any further acting to be grease monkey. Go to the nearest mechanic and tell me what you want. He will be glad to do it for you. and dont deprive him of his right to earn his bread and butter.

The rear shocks on a Pulsar is 5 step adjustable.

Just above the swing arm, on the shock, you can see the 5 adjustable steps.
you have to use the tool provided in ur tool kit to turn it to any of the desired levels. (dont worry, you'll figure out the right tool)

I would suggest level three to the max. Not more than that.

And as DCS said: you would've definitely found it on ur user manual.

Secondly, thanks to DCS and Coplay@180 for helping me out, it was really helpful.

I would like to mention a small thing. I did a double check on the bike's manual as the senior members said but oddly, there is no information regarding adjusting the rear suspension.
I am baffled.

I have a P180 UG3 and i can assure you there is no info about adjusting the shocks in the Owner's Manual. And I am familiar with my toolkit, i don't think there is a tool that can be used for this purpose. I have no interest in adjusting my shocks. Was just high-lighting the original poster's plight. The instructions are there however, on page 23 of the Service manual, but that doesn't describe the tool either. I hope the 150 & 180 have a similar shock setup.

Thanks Ayson for replying because I thought that I was provided with an incomplete owner's manual.
I got the Service manual through the link that you provided. What I want to ask you is do the owners get this manual in booklet form because I have not received any such book.

The info in the manual may or may not be complete. But the tool itself is not provided in some cases.

I got it with my 200, my friend with a 180 UG4 did not.
Attaching an image of what the tool looks like. Note that it is just a flat metal piece and not high-quality like you see here. The basic shape is the same.

And yes, it is a preload-adjustment tool.

As far as i know, the Service Manual is provided by Bajaj only to Authorised Service Centers. It is not given to the owner.

And the owners manual too has different versions for the same version of the bike. I mean, i have seen other P180 UG3 with a owner's manual different to mine.

Sorry Folks. I dint know that some ppl got the TOOL and some dint. Well, I got it when I bought my P180 UG-III. Its quite similar to the pics posted here.
