This is infact a really nice topic. Which can be helpful to lot of us.
Few of them which I am aware of are : Ganpatipule, Bhandardara, Malshej Ghat, Ahmednagar, Trimbakeshwar, Harihareshwar, Diveaghar, Kolad, Matheran, Mahabaleshwar, Raigad, Lonavala, Ambey Valley, Lavasa, Kashid, Jawhar, Amboli, Tarkarli. This are some which could strike in my mind. Been on some places & heard of others. There are other members who are well-known with each corner of Maharashtra..

Around Pune-One day trips:
Theur-Bhuleshwar-Kanifnath (Madhi) Morachi Chincholi-Nighoj-Ranjangaon (best in March-April) Bedse caves Sinhagad fort Satara Kaas lake Wagholi-Fulgaon-Vadhu-Tulapur-Alandi March-April-May is not really a touring season, where all you see is burnt yellow grass everywhere! I feel August to February is THE best season for touring. Very few places that are specially for summer visit, like Nighoj and morachi chincholi. |

Maharashtra is not particularly famous for touring during the summer's , as animeher said its just a heat and the burnt grass.
Since u've done with most of the coastal region , you can move to the Kolhapur side. A bit if sight seeing there (mostly temples) . One famous place near Kolhapur would be the Panhala fort . Its a big fort made into a Hill station. Nice place to spend one night there.Very pleasant during night. |

If you vie to Ride longer distances, say 600-1000kms., you have superb Summer destinations:
All distances from Mumbai (0 kms) Tadoba Reserve (via Nagpur) - you'll definitely get to see one of the 1411 left, A Tiger. Just above 1000 kms. Lonar lake (Near Buldhana) - One of the most beautiful CRATER lake on Earth, only 3 such are known & reachable to common man. Around 600 kms. Shirdi & Shegaon - If you are a spiritual person, you need to be here. an old shrine of Shirdi Sai baba & a lot of very old Kunds n stuff around. Around 240 kms. Ajanta-Ellora caves & Daulatabad fort (near Aurangabad)- A look back into History B.C. & great architechture. Less than 500 kms. Summer is not best time to visit as this region becomes damn hot. Best thing is to ride via remote roads, via State Highways. Small roads, surrounded by greenery or atleast grass fields, going thru small hills with lots of twisties, better than hot & boring N highways, unless you want to rip hard n reach fast. Dahanu - Superb untouched white sand beaches. Best to ride along a coastline & Perfect for a one day picnic. Around 180 kms. north of Mumbai. Daman - Best for one night stay chill-out programme. Go only if you drink, else, nothing much to enjoy. Approx. 190 kms. in Gujrat

there is only one road i would add:
harne to kelshi near dapoli. not a long road but the roads to that place are good as well. this is a ~20 km stretch of perfect tarmac which goes winding along the coast and up and down some hill, crosses a creek as well. this road should be among the best in the world. (provided the tarmac is still ok for the last 2 years) its many times better than mutha ot lavasa if you know what i mean. to get there, go towards Anjarle from Harne and keep going till Kelshi. cheers.
