  • Need some information Nainital - Kausani route.

I am planning a ride next week or so... I am eager to cover Kausani in my ride as ive never been there till now. I know the route from lucknow to nainital but i have NO idea about the route from nainital to kausani , all i know is its a 108km hill ride from Nainital to Kausani. Anyone who can tell me the route ?

I also want to know the present condition of the road from bareilly because ive heard that due to heavy rainfall the present condition of the road is not good. If anybody belongs to that area or been there recently please update me on this !
Is it a good time to visit these places ?

Last thing : I am planning to do this ride Solo because i dont have many friends who are interested in touring on two wheels. So if anybody wants to join in is most welcome (i know there aint many xbhpians in this part of the country). Still if anybody is interested can P.M me.
Else nothing can beat solo riding..

    Thank you.

@Sunilg Clearly my post was not OT as I had specifically called up (Telephoned*) Beruoist (Rohit Upadhyay, the rider who did the Berozgaari ride documented here http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/tourer/1...tml#post470810 ) for info on the Lucknow Nainital route. I did this as on Day #17 of his ride, He happened to do ride in and around Nainital and his inputs would have helped Ashish aka SnD in his trip planning.

The reason for me being so very interested in SnD's ride to Uttaranchal was that we had already discussed the ride route and plan at length on PMs on Facebook and I was the one who had convinced him to head to Uttaranchal instead of Agra and so I was concerned of his well being on this route. And that is why i did the '*'ed above.

And to prove that I don't write total OTs on the forum, I will re-quote what Beruoist has originally posted on his thread.

Thanks Cheeti Manav..Yaar mien Nainital kuch alag hi raste se gaya tha..But suna he ki bariely wala jo route he from Lucknow that is in pretty bad shape.

          Cheers

As my current place of residence is around 2k km from Nainital, and Nainital is not as famous a destination for bikers as something like 'Leh' it is highly unlikely that the particular query was for my use.

@Ashish Mukteshwar is also a beautiful place in those hills 50odd km away from Nainital. Try that as a detour on your return journey from Kausani. The detour adds 23km to your ride total.

The regular route will be Nainital - Bhowali (Turn right onto SH37) - Almorah - Kausani Total 113km
Return route could be Kausani - Almorah - Head 10km towards Bhowali on SH37 and then take a left off SH37- Mukteshwar is 30odd km away. - Ramgarh - Bhowali - Nainital Total: 136km

Road condition were decent 1 month back. No idea now.
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

@antz.bin: Lovely detailed post, thanks. I personally want to visit Kausani soon but since it's just not possible over a weekend, I am waiting for a leave of 4 odd days.

@Smoker n doper: All the very best, and do bring us some wonderful photographs from that beautiful place (Kausani).
              :)
