Hi Dear freinds,

i am currently planning to ride down to konkan this weekend,(friday to Sunday) from Pune to Sindhudurg/Malvan. want route suggestions from yourside, currently i have considered three routes.

1) Pune-Bhor-mahad, and cont. to malvan thr. NH 17 (but not sure about Bhor-mahad route/road status)
2) Pune-poud-tamhini ghat-Mangaon and cont to malvan thr. NH17(any updates about tamhini ghat road status)
3)Pune-Khandal-surur Phata-pachgani-mahaB-poladpur and Cont to Malvan thr NH17 (looks good option)
(Pune-Kolhapur-hatkhamba route, not considered because want ride on Mumbai Goa Highway)

please help me to choose best route out of it,

and do mention any beatiful places on way/near to Malvan, also any suggestions regarding hotels/sea food/highway dhaba's on the way; will be appreciated!

accompnied by my ride;CBZ legend.

nobody travelled form bhor-varanghat-mahad? i am just worrying, because this will be my first ride thr this route.
Pune xbhp guys please help, i knew you have had conqured this route.

i am planning to leave in early morning, so i need prepare my luggage. come on hurry up.....

never mind my friend.

just completed my Konkan ride, almost 1000kms
single cylinder, 2 bikers, three days, four wheels and around thousand kms, and bunch of lifetime memories.
will soon post some pics.

oh.. i somehow skipped this thread..

btw, the route till kolad is my regular route for my monthly trips to my uncle's place in roha.
I always prefer the nh4 route till lonavala, then the expressway, then comes pen, and then nagothane, kolad. but only once i went through tamhini ghat.. the route is very scenic but the road is somewhere in between the potholes. ever since i went through that route, The fairing of my bike has been making wierd noises, and the chain guard is in pieces. I hence avoid the tamhini at all costs.

I have used all the 3 routes extensively. Mahableshwar one is better.

But personally I would prefer the below route

Pune - Nippani- Amboli-Sawantwadi route. You get awesome road to ride till Nippani and then you get a very scenic route till Sawantwadi/Malvan
You will have to travel few kms extra to Malvan but I think you will enjoy the roads
