Default Exchanged bike but havent got ownership transfer documents

Hi guys,

I gave me old bike in the showroom and got a new one. The showroom guys informed me that once the bike is sold, they'll give me the ownership transfer documents. However, it has been 6 months and they have not given anything. All I get to know is that the bike has not been sold yet.

What option do I have to ensure I'm legally safe in case something happens involving my bike.

Which (new) bike did you get in exchange? I am not sure bike companies have exchange offers. I hope the dealer didn't try to pull a fast one on you.

Is your new bike registered? If yes, then in whose name? If not, then how are you managing to run the bike on-road?

Try to mail/contact the bike company. Meanwhile search for a competent lawyer.

I gave my Bajaj Byk and bought Honda Dazzler. The showroom guys subtracted 9k from the price for the exchange. The new bike is registered on my name.

So you mean your old Bajaj Byk is still in your name?

If the Bajaj Byk is still in your name, then just take it back (you have a spare set of keys right?) otherwise, tell the idiots to transfer the ownership to the showroom name, be firm and don't take no crap from them or just take the bike back, after all it's registered in your name.

By the way, excuse my ignorance but is the Byk an old model from Bajaj?

It would be simpler to get a letter of sale singed from the dealers, sign all the forms and give it to the dealers keeping a copy of the same with you.
