Hi all,

I ride a p200 and all my services where done @ PBK with 20w40 veedol (PBK used that oil when i knew bajaj recommends 20w50 which was okay for me since i liked to change oil @ intervals of 2500kms)

Last time when i serviced @ 30k they told me that veedol has been stopped and from now onward will be using bajaj oil 20w50.I said okay!!

From that point afterwards i get a scratching sound the engine something like piston is being brushed by cylinder somewhat.I contacted PBK and they said the plug something [i don't remember where] had water content and beacuse of this it's the sound.Phew!!What a lie?But still the sound is there.So i knew they can't sort out the issue..

Guys..so please help me..what could be orignal issue.Is it beacuse of the bajaj oil.The sound is not there all the times.Sometimes i can hear it on idle speed or at times in 2nd or 3rd gear at slow speeds.

does the sound also come while starting --sometimes like metal scratching to metal, during kick start or self start ??

No!!!

Alas its that i hear "metal to metal" during running or @ idle speed.Not while starting.

Since it started with the change of oil grade/type simplest would be to reverse that first and see if the problem goes away , without delving deep into the engine trying to locate the cause . Try a bottle of motul 3000 4T plus 15w50 .

I second Pinaki.. try reversing back to old grade and see if that solves. Are you witnessing any abnormal vibration along with the sound ? Any white smoke out of tail pipe ?

To that i have one query the recommended one is 20w50 right!I was planing to buy ACTIV XTRA - 20W-50.Which one should i go for?

So would using 15w50 be a cause?

@Prith - No and no smokes from silencer.

Also earlier the oil used was 20w40.Should i revert to that itself or use 20w50.
