Stiffer clutch springs

Stiffer clutch springs help in more efficient torque transmission from the engine to the gearbox. The torque transmitted by any clutch system is a direct function of the axial force at the friction material. The stiffer springs help in increasing this axial force and hence the better torque transmission.
Note:The use of stiffer springs will increase the efficiency of the transmission system. Torque produced by the engine however will remain the same.

okay maybe i gott your point..... That means if i use stiffer springs the torque produced from the engine will be used in a more effective way right? That means low end grunt will be better? Will the engine pull more effectively? And wht are the pros and cons? I dont know anything about this thingOriginally posted by pavanchirmade View PostStiffer clutch springs help in more efficient torque transmission from the engine to the gearbox. Reduced transmission loss, for example if your engine produces 20 bhp at the crank and 18 bhp at the rear wheel, the clutch springs will reduce the transmission loss resulting in more power being transfered to the rear wheel where it is needed, they also improve shifting giving more precision.Originally posted by Rahulbarik View Postokay maybe i gott your point..... More than 98 percent of convicted criminals are bread eaters !
Statistics show that more than 75 % of violent crimes are committed within 24 hours of eating bread !
Bread is known to be extremely addictive. Subjects deprived of bread and given only water, actually begged for bread after just two days !
Bread has been proven to kill. Scientists have now uncovered alarming evidence that 100% of the people who eat bread will eventually die !

Yes. You got my point. Low end grunt will be better if your current springs are not producing enough axial force. But the use of stiffer springs will make the clutch lever harder, means more effort for pulling the clutch lever. However this may not be so much that your hand will hurt. But can't say for sure.Originally posted by Rahulbarik View Postokay maybe i gott your point..... Achcha now i got it.... Thank you both....
Will that decrease mileage by any chance....? And what other negative impact? My bike is tvs flame..... Its has got a real raw low end grunt bt i just want to try the experiment.....
what about clutch plate life and mileage? And any adverse side effect on my bike....?

^^ Clutch plate life would depend on how u shift gears, and if you rev and then release the clutch ( sudden dump etc ). But ideally clutch life should improve, since there will be less scope for slippage.
Just as a caution, since its a smaller bike, make sure that the clutch cable can take the additional stress. Else you will be stranded with a broken clutch cable.

Indeed a very valuable point. I missed out on it. The cable has to be strong enough to pull the clutch back and yet not break.Originally posted by jd666 View Post^^ Clutch plate life would depend on how u shift gears, and if you rev and then release the clutch ( sudden dump etc ). This is indeed very good topic. Can anyone please throw more light on this? Can this "stiffer springs" be installed in any bikes, particularly Indian Bikes?? Where can we get these springs from??
Tech junkies: Please contribute to this thread more. This is one simple mod which seems to have good output w/o seriously compromising on safety issues."HASTA LA VICTORIA, SIEMPRE !" - Chesigpic

no adverse effect on mileage or engine , btw which bike do you own , is it any of the suzukisOriginally posted by Rahulbarik View PostThat will be a serious safety issue then. So where will i get ultra strong cables that wont break. Though i dnt ride fast, i really abuse my clutch plates...lasts only 6 months.... Btw any adverse effect on mileage or any internal engine damage?Kawasaki KB100/enduro/125 substitute parts list http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/508615-post105.html

6 months??!!! what, do you ride your bike with half clutch pressed all the time!!! You must change your riding habit then. Clutch plates lasting only 6 months is just too much to believe.Originally posted by Rahulbarik View PostThat will be a serious safety issue then. My bike is tvs flame.... Single spark plug wala.... And no i not at all ride with half clutch.....i dont even press the cluch when slowing down. I jst use it for a fraction of a second when i shift gears and i shift gears too fast and with full throttle to make that jerk which makes others feel that i am accelarating hard.... And i try to do a lot of wheelies all the time so my clutch plate dont last long..... Bt i am riding sanely for last 3 months with the new clutch and it still is in good shape.... And i have serious problems with my bike.... Gives 25-30 kmpl.... Neways now the big question.... How to do it? I will tell my mechanic the exact way of doing it after your suggestions..... Will putting a washer inside the springs do? I think there are 4 springs right? This Tail Is Japani Tail (spell as you like)
