Default R15 starting trouble and chain issue.

Hi,
I am having YAMAHA YZF r15. I am facing starting trouble at times, Also i am feeling some missing when i am trying to accelerate. Some times bike would stop and wont start for hours.
Top speed and acceleration has considerably decreased. Earlier i could easily touch 134kmph. Now its very difficult to go above 128.
My bike is 3 years old and it has run 18k Kms.
My chain is also very loose. Even if i tight, it will go loose after few weeks.I have changed my chain and sprocket at 13k Kms.

Could you guys tell me what all I should check.

Something is definitely wrong in the electrical system of your bike. It maybe due to presence of moisture in the electricals, i had the same prob with my 220 Fi, the bike just died and wouldnt start. The service person said this was caused because of moisture.
As for your lack of top speed, it does reduce over time and if not maintained properly.
Also remember your top speed is regulated by various factors such the wind speed, tyre condition.

Thanks dilip.
How did you overcome the problem?
I didnt face these kind of problem for last three years. I used to ride in all kind of rainy conditions.

I had kept my bike idle for 3 months. Will it cause this?

3 months??? thats a long time for a Fuel injected bike to be idle.
dust may have clogged up in the fuel filter - affecting performance.
Also its suggested that u keep the a EFI bike idling for 10 minutes about once in 3 days, if not used for long periods of time.

My problem was that moisture was present in the contact plates of the starter button, and a electrical leakage in the line caused the battery to die (it wouldnt even roll start, no display too!). So they taped the leakage and replaced the switch.

Thank you dilip

I again had this starting trouble yesterday after i kept my bike in sun for some 2 hours.

Afterward i kept my bike in shade for 45 minutes. Then it started and no problem afterwards.

I have also noticed that I am having this problem only when kept idle in sun. While hours of riding in sun doesn't cause any trouble?

What can be done to solve this?

Thanks in advance.

are u using projector or hid's? if so,with stock batt will drain fast on them,i had that issue on my r15 but got rectified by using 9amp.. as dilip said check for moisture, thought it can be there, see that batt terminals and fuse holder are dry..coz it can cause electrical disturbances, and see that the rectifier is properly connected most of time it may go loose, and the wires connected with terminals are very tight if not tight it with screwdriver ehen starting are u getting a stuttering sound from fuse holder? if so it means batt is weak and charge it,if u were using airfilters from Kn or anything u might wanna clean it for free throttle response...impurities in fuel can also disturb throttle response causing engine knock..
