Hi All,
My bike initially came with a single horn, wanted to get a dual horn put in. I got the horn and mounted it and all, but when i tried to connect both the horns (by skinning the main horn wire and connecting both), then the fuse blows.. . . Read couple of places and it was recommended to get a relay to do the job(instead of loading the oem horn button). ![]() So i got the relay (3-pin, from a neighborhood shop) and i'm just lost trying to figure out where each of the connection goes. Attaching the pic of the stuff i have. Please help me out wire them up.

I have used the similar 3 terminal cutout ( here shopkeepers called it as cutout & to 4 point / 5 point they call it as relay ) but it won't last long with the load , so i switched to 4 point relay . As i remember the connction of wiring of the cutout is ....
Ground the black wire of horns as you shown in picture . Connect the red wire of horns to cutout H terminal , Connect red wire +12 v from battery to the B terminal of cutout , & connect the black wire from horn button to S terminal of battery . ( in my cutout the S terminal require negative supply so i changed the horn button supply from +ve to -ve ) Though it's been 8 years ago so can't say about your cutout s terminal requirement . It is good if you add a 5amp fuse in series with horn connecting H terminal & wire . |

Hello everyone,
My bike's rpm needle and the fuel meter are behaving notoriously. Let me explain what happens. When I start my bike everything is fine. 1. I start riding I observe that the fuel meter is showing too much of fuel whereas I am almost near reserve. 2. The rpm needle is fine. But as and when I turn on the headlight or pass light or use horn the rpm needle will turn fully beyond red line and will stay there. Although the real rpm of engine is still as normal 4k or whatever near it. If I switch off the headlight the needle come back to correct level. I believe there is some fault in wiring. I have got this problem rectified once before also and the SS guy charged 75 rs for this. This has happened again. I want to know whats the cause of this problem and how to get it rectified properly. Thanks |

With what i could figure out, in a 3-way relay, the body is mounted onto frame directly which grounds itself. H= horn / other accessories (pin 87 of a 4way relay) B= Battery source(+12V source) S=Positive terminal of the switch(horn switch in our case). The unused ground wire of the horn, can be used to ground the required accessories. Last edited by xxbomb; 12-14-2011 at 08:21 PM. |
