Hi, posting here after a long because, after a long long time i am back to riding bikes (due to necessity) so i am in possession of a 2004 model 150cc Pulsar (the bikini fairing type). This bike was in non-working condition for a long time, did the service and its working fine now but little things are still to be fixed. So looking to see if anyone can point me to a shop or price of spare that i am looking for.
1. The headlight reflector has become quite dirty and it seems like dust might have been seeping inside the dome, due to which light output is next to nil. So i was wondering incase i dont get this v1 h/l assy then can a UG3 one be fixed, if so how much is that cost? 2. Which engine oil is advised for this bike? 3. Also this has a self start but it does not work, could the battery be the reason, the battery was serviced, any ideas what is the AH rating for a self starting bike? 4. Can i afix a 55/60 bulb in the current stock setup? Will that put quite a load on the stator? Hope these questions are not repetitive as i could not find anything specific in this regard. |

1. Yes, you can opt for ug3 reflector, price not confirmed but may cost around 1000 bucks for full head+visor.
2. Castrol is good oil (my choice) and easily available anywhere in India costs around 270 but if you want a better oil than castrol then go for motul 5100 costs around 450.3. Get your self checked by a mechanic, if motor is ok then either carbon set (might be chocked due to non usage) inside the motor or the relay for self is the problem and if motor is not working, then you got to change while self which costs around 1500 (genuine bajaj) and 850 (local), got myself changed yesterday .4. You can go for 55/60w tube but you got to change your coil to Avenger 180 which you can say is compatible for 55/60w, if not changed then it will slowly start giving problems and battery will drain out if you drive at night long at low rpm (below 4k). So its better to get it changed costs around 600.

1. v1 pulsar 150 headlamp parts very much available at Bajaj dealers. Best is to stick to stock design . Replace reflector & lens and it'll be good as new .
2. Pulsar 150 requires 20w40 JASO mineral motor oil, by the owner's manual . Motul/gulf are good oils that I have used in 20w40 . But just ensure that it is JASO approved oil (with jaso approval symbol & number) and 20w40 grade and you'll be just fine . Motul 5100 is not 20w40 grade . 3. You have to get the self-start motor , meshing gears , battery & electricals checked by competent Bajaj workshop . Or you can just have the whole self-start assembly removed and continue with kick-start IMHO .Old neglected self-start assemblies are a headache to bring to life and maintain . I've never got it to work perfectly afterwards .4. You can fit 55/60 watts lamp without any load to stator or battery(as that works from the RR on AC) . But a 55/60 watt lamp in place of a 35 watt won't glow to full power or give you any other advantage . Fit a good 35 watts lamp (phillips/halonix is good & available at Bajaj parts counters) . |

Cool thanks for hte suggestions,
1. i got the headlight assy from Bajaj for 750 bucks its the v1, using the same old bulb and yes now the light does shine on the road but its quite nearer to the bike both high & low beam, i was trying to see for any screws to adjust the throw but could not find it, any pointers on which screw to adjust for beam adjustment, this is incidently my first encounter with Pulsar so no ideas ![]() 2. The oil was changed by the previous owner just recently so i will stick with that for the time being. 3. I got the self start checked by a local mech and he said that he would require to open the motor to check, since the oil is new, i have left it for the time being. 4. Do we get blue vision in 35w? i have not seen any, bcoz changing the stator plate is not something i want to do right now. But u guys are correct the brightness for a 55w bulb will not be to potential in the current setup. |

2.Change the oil even-though it was changed by previous owner. (You never know if it was really changed/ oil was good of quality/correct grade of oil) 3.Check the starter motor and replace the oil. 4.I don't know if its available in 35 watt but blue-vision is useless, the light output is less compared to stock bulbs of same wattage. |
