Default shock absorber

Hi all ,

My pulsar UG 3 2008 model now has crossed 30k km. I started getting back ache even if i drive for 5 km. When I get up next day morning my back is aching more. 4 months back I gave my shock absorber to recondition. Almost it is adjusted to max. I just want to know the following
1)Life of shock absorber.
2)Is this the right time to change it
3)And choosing the best shock absorber

Thanks

Color of the Shocks doesn't matter. Most of the new shocks are black in color. Got a black colored one for my D125, where the original one was Chrome plated. Just make sure that it fits correctly and the mechanic doesn't do any Jugaad when fitting it.

I was trying to communicate the height of the bike with UG 3 and UG 4.5 since the shock absorber would suit 4.5 but will the same one can suit the UG 3 ? thats all my doubt. I dont mind abt the colour.

1) life of shock absorbers depend on type of riding.
2) yes this is the right time to change.
3) yes you can put, the shock absorbers from latest pulsar version on your bike, i have already done that.

plz note a few more things -
  • if you have lower back pain, or middle back - pain, it means rear shock absorbers are faulty.
  • if you have upper back and shoulder pain, it means front forks needs reconditioning.
  • the life of shock absorbers that you will put now will be less than that of - what came originally with bike. don't know why but the quality and life of replaced shock absorbers will never match the original ones that came from company with the bike.
  • you said that that you had given your shock abs for reconditioning, what exactly was done.- spring load adjustment/inserting additional washers/ filling the air ???
  • nitrox shock absorbers are notorious for leaking nitrox, and don't last too much, specially the ones on pulsars, you can check the nitrox pressure and if it is less you can get it refilled with air, but that too will only last a few months.

Yes! I get lower and mostly the middle back pain.

If I ride for 4 or 5 km it doesn't affect me that much. If it is more than that I won't be able to drive that comfortable and slowly I can't sit comfortably. This pain will threat me more when I wake up next morning from the bed.

The re- condition. The cleaned my shocks inside and removed the old oil in it and refilled new oil. thats it.

Initially It was in no. 1 adjustment after recondition they changed it to no. 3

Whenever the rear wheel put down in speed breaker or a deep hole on the road I get a noise frm the back, tak takk.

Now I got the new pair of shock absorber from ASC. It was Rs1621. Now I get smooth ride and I have no back pain. It has reduced a lot but still I have bit of pain.

Anyway thanks to members who suggested and helped me.
