  • KTM DUKE200 ....Never Ending Issues with engine and Electricals!!!

    Dear Xbhpians!!!
I am an owner of KTM DUKE200 of the first lot released in hyderabad bought it 26th feb 2012.Since the Inception of the bike i was facing niggling issues like poor handling of bike at high speeds exceeding 90kmph which induced violent wobbling of handle bar and after 2weeks i bought the bike there was terrible metal knocking noise in engine on regular follow up with service person the issue rectified after 4months following which during the process the engine note was lost and the bike didnt have the zing of rest of dukes the performance went down for which again after dragging behind showroom for 4months Cylinder head was replaced in due process for which it was fine for 3months and now the whole bike sounds different its lost the throaty exhaust note and performance,it is now unable to clock 130kmph top speed as claimed by manufacturer. It leaks engine oil from head gasket since primary engine work is done when bike was new, service people are loaded with thier excuses for not replacing head gasket for past one year!!! On event of first anniversary of my bike i am very saddened with its pityful state where malfunction lite blinks up if i wash it and the engine sounds as if half of its internals are on the verge of collapsing with hopeless performance.I would be glad if some on can help me out solving issues of my bike as I HAVE COMPLETELY LOST MY HOPES ON KTM-BAJAJ SERVICE AND ALL THE BIG HEADS OF SERVICE DEPARTMENT WHO FAILED TO ADDRESS THE CONCERNED ISSUES IF NOT SOLVED BY THEIR REGIONAL SERVICE MANAGER TO BE PERFORMED BY THEIR ENGINEERS.I would be glad if some of the senior members/fellow xbhpians can help me out with this.

Extremely sad to see the KTM service treating customers like this. Totally inexcusable.
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

If you haven't done it yet then i believe a strong worded email should be sent to the bajaj customer care including the names, dates, receipt nos. of the work carried out concerned people that you have spoken to and then wait for Bajaj to address the issue. Usually Bajaj back office is very quick in responding and taking action against the complaints. I believe that should put an end to of all the trouble and nuisance you have went through so far

        Hope this helps,

        Cheers

Thanks a lot shv18, all this year round i have been putting mails and getting response from head office promising that they will get the work done but the pityful part is that it is never done upto mark as it keeps on repeating itself over a period of time.

Dear Mr.Pingle/Kishore,It has been very unfortunate for me to be associated with KTM-BAJAJ of being a customer.I have been very optimistic about your vehicle and your service all round the year when problems persisted in hope that they would be solved i time and they wont be coming back until a decent period of time but the same problems persisted and they returned back time to time periodically. After chasing you people all the year round i am finally tired and lost all my hopes in getting my bike issues resolved permanently.Following which i request you to atleast supply spares for the bike at your service centers so that i can get it done myself with help of online forums.

This was the mail i have put up with KTM/BAJAJ waiting for response.I seriously doubt how these people can handle a slew of launches of modern bikes from kawasaki/ktm with this kind of pathetic service where customers are on the loosing end after paying hefty chunk of money.

another case of 'customer service' in India. Bah! makes me want to burn a hole in their foot using the exhaust pipes of the bikes they make!

KTM SERVICE at Begumpet, Hyderabad has gone to a new low!!! recently i have replaced my chain kit for KTM DUKE200 following which it was plauged with vibration and roughness! When things were out of control i visited new banjara hills KTM only to Discover the the Front sprocket bolts have come loose and the sprocket has been held by just a saftey clip which resulted in damage of new chain sprocket kit itself and the plastic chain cover has been bored by the protruding bolts!.I am really
off the limits after going through a slew of headaches with bike.I am planning to put up a private stall near orange day venue for public display of utter Consumer harassment!!!Any advice/inputs appreciated.

I am Planning to put up all the issues on this bike by taking pics this weekend.

A motorcycle journalist from a reputed magazine also have faced many, many issues on his bike. He says if he were to replace the chassis , he would have an all new bike, so many parts including the block and piston needed a replacement. I hope the quality improves, that said I am a potential customer for the Duke 390 in some 5 years or so

I have some friends who own the duke but never heard any such complaints from them. Guess the problem is only with the first few lots.

Dude, I faced the exact same problems. 8 months and I had to change the piston, side stand fuse, battery, tank, magnetic coil. Absolutely no pickup and it has lost the hollow thump it once had. Aah Mr. Pingle - what a pain that guy is. So is Mayank Bhatt. I thought I was the only one suffering.
