Unhappy Help: Pulsar Clutch Problem

Hi Guys,

Recently (400Kms approx.) I changed Clutch plates of my P180 Classic they are genuine bajaj part.
I have started hearing sounds like Tak-Tak-Tak when the bike is @ 20-30 km/hr speed this is only i press the clutch to downshift. The noise is not there when i upshift.
The Cables are also new & of p180 classic itself.
Also my gear downshifts are Hard but upshifts are free.
What can be the problem?

Aslo i am planning to make a trip to Mahabaleshwar in the 1st week of December with Dreamz_mak & his R15. Since mine is a old bike should i carry any bike parts like cables or something.

Query Approved.

I am not so sure about the problem that you are having with the Classic, but how old is your bike? How many kilometres has she done? My Classic has done more than 1,20,000 kms. and I took her to all the places you can imagine.

I would suggest atleast take a spare clutch and accelerator cable with you, just in case things turn awry.

seems like Clutch cable isn't adjusted properly, see to it you may need to tighten the cable.
and hopefully you aren't running low on engine oil.

Its set to half clutch, should i make it full.
Oil i am sure i am not running low on it.

anyway if anyone know the exactly what the problem could be then let me know because i want to get it serviced this weekend.

one of my mechanic told me that there may be a clutch plate mismatch. can this also cause the problem

I have one more question.

What parts need replacements when a bike has done 70k kms. anything like the piston / piston ring / valve.
Can't be sure that the previous owner might have done

Probably, the piston rings would require a change if your machine is spewing smoke.

My bike has a few nut slips on the engine due to which the oils leaks around the engine.(I have checked the oil level its not less)
Is it recommended to take care of this problem, because mechanic told me that he will have to dismount the engine. If i am right, opening an engine is not a good choice because it later develops different -diferent problems.
Should i go for it, Each Slip will cost me 50rs to fix.

Dude its an old machine and probably requires more attention,,,180 classic had loads of issues with the gearbox,,,i too have problems shfting to 3rd from 2nd,,and bike sometimes goes into neutral from 2nd,,,since its 70k done i'd advice to get the engine properly inspected and if required go for an engine job,,and dont just trust any mechanic go to a castrol bikezone or a trusted pro,

if oil is coming on the clutch cover,,then its a seal issue which generally develops if you get a clutch replaced,,dat is'nt much of an issue,,,it is if the oil is dropping

what you own is a peice of indian motorcycle history and it does demand attention,,,,so take good care of it
