ive got my friends apache150 with me the problem is that it revs up f9..but when the throttle is left the rpm does not drop to idle soon..its reduces slowly...what could be the cause?

any info would be very usefull..

Yep I too face it some times, one of my friends suggested that this is probably due to a very lean state of engine. Try pulling check lever when the RPM rises & the revs should come down.

I think a lot of Indian bikes are Stock lean, including all Pulsars. This may not be the reason. Even when my P180 is boiling (!), it doesn't show this type of behaviour.

Firstly check whether it is mechanical problem:- Start the bike while on centre stand, accelerate it up to midrange, and meanwhile observe the Acceleration Wire below the fuel tank, near the carburetor, which gets pulled up on twisting throttle. Does it get stuck for a longer time, even on leaving throttle?

If it doesn't drop down properly as soon as throttle is left, the problem is related to this wire alone, as far as I think...


For precaution, also check whether the clutch has some free play ... it should have a free space, before it engages.

Samarth I know most of biukes are lean tuned. What I am saying is that this is what I observed & probably it happnes due to lean setting in RTR

The rpoblem is not related to Wire I have got that & all other possible areas checked the only thing remaining is the CDI & may be thats the culprit

@Samarth 619 - ill check for the wire too...there is some sort of an adjuster on the carb end of the throttle wire..any idea what does it do?


when the throttle is left after reving it comes back down to around 2.5k quicky but after this point it very slowly reduces to an idle of around 1.2k...

@ technocrat: I see ... CDI? Well, sad to know that such problems occur with stock bikes!

@ Richard: I think it is the Idle Adjuster. Using this adjuster, you can adjust your Idle RPM yourself ...

and you said it comes slowly after 2.5krpm - This wire maybe faulty! Comparison is not ideal but still, in my Pulsar, throttle knob drops immediately like a "spring" when I leave throttle!

checked the wire just now...its ok...no obstructions in it coming down...exactly! it drops like a spring

its not the idle adjuster dude..its on the throttle wire...(ie.an adjuster like the one that's on the clutch cable)...i checked my pulsar its there on it also....couldidnt exactly figure out what is does..i think it adjusts throttle response.


cdi! i think that thing is expensive??..any way to check?

Hey techno was right, it was totaly due to lean state tune of the carb, Try to tune the carb proper ly.
By the way how is heat generation of the engine. If it is more then normal, it surly then the lean mixture is culprit. Check my blog for Carb tuning.

just check to a mechanic .. i guess it needs oiling or maybe its getting stuck somewhere ..
