Hi Guys,
Am planning to buy a CBR1000, 2004 done about 4.5k on the clock. The seller (an individual not a dealer) is quoting me 700k and not willing to negotiate at all. Personally, I feel its a bit too much and the bike should be in the 5.5 - 6 range. However, the owners logic for the high price is that the bike's got strong paperwork i.e. imported through TR (so no duty evaded) and done very little and also got a brand new pair of wheels (corsa's). My questions are a) Is the price right? b) Can I get the bike transfered to my name as more than 2yrs? C) Can the machine be insured? d) Could there be a catch? Is there something in particular I need to look out for in the machine? Saw the machine cpl of months ago and seemed in good condition. Although am gonna get it checked professionally again and also the paperwork, I am just so blinded by the beauty right now that cant think rationally (am sure some of you would understand) so looking for some objective advice as the money involved is too much. 700k still looks cheap when compared with 11.16 for a R1. Gracias..................!

Topic Approved.
I would strongly doubt that the proper paperwork is available for such a bike, kindly check that as that should be the top priority. A gray market bike will always be a gray market bike; I would highly doubt the genuineness of such "strong" paperwork. Rest everything is pretty okay, it is the documentation part that you should be most concerned about. As for the asking price of Rs.700,000/-, I won't be able to comment personally as I do not have much experience of the pricing of second hand SBKs, but there are people here who would be able to help you with this as well. But, on first glance, '700,000' does seem a little steep for a 2004 1000RR.

To give u an idea, a CBR600RR which was very very well maintained was picked by someone I know for 6L 1 yr ago with full spot on papers. Normally litre bikes have almost the same value as 600s. So for a 2004 CBR, something around 5L should be perfect.

My friend's CBR 1000RR 04 version is valued at 6.25-6.5L It has done about 15K kms.[my avatar]
So actually a 4-5k on 7L bike is a really nice deal! Some sbks which have clocked similar are sold at more price man! |
