I have a 2000 model yamaha rx 5speed which is just back from a complete cosmetic and engine rebuild. its completed 185 kms now after the build.
Though everything else is fine with the bike I am facing a problem of false neutrals
, there are a quite a number of them encountered when i am riding the bike. like around 30% of all gear shifts are not engaged properly.the clutch lever has been adjusted to very less play.
i.e the clutch engages when the lever is released fully.the false neutrals occur between any particular gear, it feels like there is a neutral between each gear
for example, if i am shifting from 3rd to 4th and a false neutral occrs at that point, the gear just refuses to engage to 4th if i upshift again. I have to get it back to third and shift to fourth.this holds good for all gears even when downshifting.
all i know is that this is quite dangerous and i have had close calls with vehicles narrowly missing hitting me from behind during heavy traffic.I am using castrol power one as the gearbox oil.
any gyan regarding why this is caused will be highly appreciated.
Thanks and regards

Mithun
