Smile hey Harish

I am from hyderabad and I have a 1994 KB100 and I still ride her - its been with me for 8yrs now and just today got her engine fixed - not a new piston but it needed some gears etc. Off late her parts have become scarse and I am having a tough time finding her parts but I think I can still push for another another couple of years atleast. Great machine, lovely sound, awesome handling and it still takes me past 95kmph.

Since it is old and getting quiet rare now, U wont be able to maintain it unless U LOVE it.

Yaser

Default Kb100

Who is 17 you or the bike ??

Lets go by the Bike ... its a RTZ KB100 model 1993 the first of the Delta series which came with a resonator (power box) just below the fuel tank on the right with a pipe to give extra power to the carb air injects for better pickup

98 cc with 10.5 bhp, this one was a sucker that gave the RX100 and the Samurai TVS Suzuki a run for their worth.

Its a tough one .. ride the cheetah ... you can also take it to the bazaar (Were the taglines for the KB100's by Bajaj)

this one had a silencer without an extra bone-pipe from the muffler so it did not give that shrill when one floored the throttle though the roar was enough to send the RX 100 and Sumarai's also the Supras and Shoguns running out of the jungle of 100 cc Japs.

Maintenance : ???

what is that on a KB100 ...

Just clean the spark plug once in two weeks, ensure that you use only Synthetic 2 Stroke oil (I recommend Servo 2T by IOC or Castrol 2T)

Never keep the carb settings to LEAN on this engine, you won't enjoy the pickup at its best. Ensure that when the engine is idealling its at 1500 rpm (max)

Clean the air filter once in two months (ie., approx. if you do 5000 kms in two months)

During morning start run the bike in 1st and 2nd gear at a speed of 10-20 kms for about 3 mins and never use the choke unless absolutely necessary.

Never rev the engine to over 3000 rpm when stationary.

Religiously do a De-Carb of the silencer every 10000 kms and enjoy a good healthy pickup.

The bike when ridden at speeds between 40-60 kms at the normal revs of 4500 to 5000 rpm (without sudden variations) should give you a decent 55 kms to a litre of petrol. This one runs best when you use 93 Octane fuel (not the Speed or Power or any other additive fuels) or simply stick to the regular fuel at the bunks. Never modify this bike and run it as STOCK as possible.

Lastly, put some snaps of your ride on XBHP, I have recently uploaded some after a restoration started early this year.

I disagree with you Yaser ... KB100's are the best to maintain parts are not easy to find however an email to the parts manager in Pune Bajaj Auto will work wonders for you.

I do agree that if you doing a complete restoration of the bike to a STOCK model you may face a lot of challenges like I did ... read my story on the restoration that is under-way

by that, I meant find the parts has become very difficult now - so unless one really wants it, one can easily loose patience and give up. but if one is determined, he will have to go about for a while - finding parts.

can you please help me with the contact details of the Pune parts manager? I wud b so very thankful to you for that.

Agree about everything you've said of the KB. Except that the Delta version was out in 1989. I bought one in August 89 - the platinum grey one - and it remained my faithful steed for the next decade. I did some 2 lac+ kms on it with two engine kit changes. Also did my first Delhi - Leh ride via Manali on that bike. Great performer, good electricals, stable and neutral handling and good brakes for drums.

This bike adds to the common factors between the two of us .
