Has anyone fitted a disc on the original CBZ? Mine came with drums up front and they lack the bite to stop from a speed of 90+, which is often required due to the presence of lost souls on the GQ streches. Need to know the cost involved for the originals and any other brand that can be found in the bazaar.

It should be easy for you to add a disc brake upfront as the all cbz's came with a disc brake option as well. You would have to change the following parts.

1) Front drum and spokes to the CBZ disc coupling.
2) Brake kit ( that includes The disc plate,master cylinder (oil reservoir),and calliper.
3) Fork bottom (guess the bottom needs to be replaced only and not the rod) Could someone confirm?
4) And a few nuts and bolts

Before you proceed find a good mech and the probable costs of the parts as HH parts are known to be pricey.

Don't take it to any mechnaic take it to the nearest HH service center
things you need to change is :

1) Right side fork leg ( if you need you can change the left one too )
2) Hub set along with plate ( which holds the disc ) and spokes.
3) Disc plate and allen bolts and five bolts which holds the disc plate on to the hub.
4) New set of spacers.


If require change your fork seals not mandatory if your current fork seal is in good shape.

speedometer gear set which rotate meter cable.

plz change both shock bottom set cos left one is also different from the drum type.
any mechanic can do this job very easily,go to ur trusted mechanic.there is no need to go service center cos they ll rip u like hell and don't give any kind of warranty on any problem if any prob occur.
Total cost of drum to disk conversion near about 3.5-4k Rs including labor.

@psycho and c_sbk: Thanks a lot friends...got the info that I need Fork seal change recently, so that can be skipped. Others, I'll ask my HH mechanic, who would be happy to do the job out of the shop. I'm sure this is an amount well spent, as the front were not at all holding when decelerating from a 90-0...fully pressed and they give out at last

spending 4k in an outdated steel spoked' wheel...is it a good bet.

my suggestion is, if you have the cash to also add a pair of alloy wheels then it would be good for riding and for the eyes...coz cbz looks awesome in alloy wheels.

I was thinking along the same lines, but the bike is 45k km old, third-hand, originally bought in Dec 2005. Would love cosmetic mods, first of all a nice paint job over the ugly black-yellow CBZ*. But come to think of it, is the bike worth spending 10-12k right away. Even though I wanna hold on to it and never sell, spending on it seems a waste. I guess an emotional attachment comes with new bikes only.

PS: Getting the bike new clutch plates and timing chain this Sunday, plus a much-needed reflector set.
