  • RX100 to RX135

I am sure there are lot of guys here converted from RX100 to RX135. I am planning to plonk in the conversion now.
i am running the 5th oversize on my 91 model RX100.The ride is fine but missing the extra power at the same time keeping avarage in my mind.

    so coming to the points-
4 speed or 5 speed? which of the two gives more mileage and what figures i can expect.

should i be using rx100 head reworked or 4 speed head or 5 speed head?

for time being let it be limited to this so tht point by point i can get the list made and work for the progress.

P.S. Budget is also little tight ( Recession )

Sorry may totaly missed your thread.

now for the RX 100 conversion to the RX 135 i personaly would recomend to do a 5 speed conversion.

          for this you need is

1 - Barrel Kit (Includes ART piston most of the time) - around 4700-5000
          2 - Gear set - around 2500
3 - Crank - only if you are lucky
4 - Head - try to use the 5 speed head if not then a 4 speed reworked would do the trick. i got mine for 200
          5 - oil seals -
          6 - engine oil -
7 - Clutch assembly also needs to be changed - mine has been done for 1000
          8 - New carb - 1200-1500

now you have the RX 135 5 speed raw power way too much torque as compared to rx 100
i ride very hard keep on red lining i still get around 25KMPL. i have heard people getting 30-40 depending on riding style.

          i hope this helps.

            thanks desideep
i have put the query in rddrams as well
got the points from them as well
i will be contacting pradeep as well as teji when i take up conversion. right now i am pooling the moolah for the dream conversion. 135 with rdd Cdi and uni filter.
head work will be done by Ron if i dont get the new head.

Had a word with Yamaha dealer here in Bangalore. They take up conversion but for 4 speed 135 including head, barrel and piston kit, crank for 8k.

hey thats good that you are working on it.

i am not sure how interested would ron be in the job cause generally he is extreamly picky when it comes to such kinda jobs.

there is no point getting converted to the 4 speed kit

i know there is no point. but 5speed spares are the issue.
but can we convert to 5 speed later on?

                i was planning like this
                convert to 135 4 speed.
later when i get the 5 speed gear setup, convert it and alter the head and sprockets.

Karthik i saying this again, decide yourself what you want first, parts can be arranged, these are the things i can help you out.

                  1) 5 speed gear box.
                  2) Mikuni VM-26 carb, cost i have already told you.
                  3) 5 speed sproket kit 16/37 ( used only for 30kms for a speed check on my bike will give it you 200 less than the mrp ).
                  4) Even clutch bell i think i can,let's see.

Everything can be arranged, take a firm decision and let me know, iwill defently help you out ..

The flaws of the power box is just quick 80kmph, thats it your bike will never go beyond it, no matter what you do, for a person who insists quick 80kmph in city the power box makes sense else its a waste.

@ Desi bhai plz shed some light on this, problems in ur Rx after 4spd to 5spd conversion.

my 5spd hits 105kph in 3rd gear with powerbox(airbox underneath tank and connected to cylinder intake).
