Default New lease of life for the old 180

I am making my down payment for the p220f today and will the bike in a fortnight, after that I will have a free 180cl in my hand. I am kind of a mad scientist, so (UUUUHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHAAAAA) I am thinking of mutating my 180. I know the basics, change the airfilter, the jets and the exhaust but lately I am having some crazy ideas.

So again I have a few questions for the enlightened ones.

I am going to convert my head( bike’s head) in to dtsi, which one of them ugs can it be turned to with minimum fuss? The spoked Dtsi is the closest match I think.

What mod can I do to the 180cl clutch for better power delivery?

Is it possible to port the intake and exhaust ports of the pulsar? If yes, know anyone who will do it in Chennai?

This last question is kinda out there but I am way serious about it, Is it some how possible to TURBOCHARGE a P180cl?

Any insights will be appreciated.

On a serious note, Please dont tell me to sell the bike and buy ______(insert fanboy bike name). Thank you.

Interesting project. I hope you really follow this up. If you do, this is going to be fun.

From all your above mentioned mods;
1) The Dts-i spoke will be a direct fit but you will have to change hell lotta things, viz. Chassis, head, electricals, CDI, Block piston (if worn out), etc etc. The bill would run upwards of 20K. So you got to decide.

2) Dont know but i guess my mech here in Mumbai puts in the UG clutch plates in my bike.

3) I think its possible (not sure). May be the gurus out here could help you out.

4) No clue.

All the best with whatever you do. Keep us posted.

Already running Dtsi cdi, block piston itself needs to be changed, chassis can remain the same i think with some minor alterations, Head I can afford.

I am sure about the dtsi conversion, but really need some help with the porting thing.

1. you need to check the shape of the chassis... AFAIK, the chassis built if different for the dtsi ones and the classic ones...

2. yes.. very much possible (sorry couldnt contact u... lost ur number )

3. why do u need to alter the clutch for better power delivery??? just increase the compression ratio and go for speed97... phenomenal performance..

4. again, 2, 3 is the answer for 4...

@undefineme3: Dont worry dude, I still have your number and you are still my best option. How is the project coming along?

I think the basic difference between the chassis is the head holder clamp which can be welded on the classic chassis.

Apart from that planning to put projector head lamps and making the bike full dc.

How do you increase compression ratio?

according to my knowledge increasing compression ratio is done by changing the piston diamiter or by increasing the ring mesh. both sound difficult on pulsar.

this is exatly where the problem occurs... welding onto the frame increases the vibrations like CRAZY! one of my friend converted his 180 classic to a 220.. first problem seen was this... vibrates like hell!

full dc is a nice option there... as for the projectors are they available in such a size as to fit in between the forks???
i recoiled and currently running with the ambassador headlight assemblw with 100W bulb... lighting is like day light..
my bike is fully done... its a full fledged 220 now

yeah.. exactly as bibhu told... a simpler way which can be done on pulsars is by fitting a domed piston... it is more bulged with exact gaps for the valves... a more feasible option...
