Hi guys.
I've recentely bought a TVS flame for my dad. During the buying process, he rode the apache RTR extensively, but finally bought the Flame. but now he's not satisfied with the braking performance. Even i felt it a tad bad. So here's my query. The Flame and RTR share same front forks, wheels, and even the disc caliper assembly. So can i fix an RTR petal disc using the caliper clamps and disc from the RTR? Gurus please shed some light. I think it is possible. |

Second thing all Indian disc brake system get infected by aluminum oxidation which cozes cloggin in fluid network. The fluid what we use is glycol based and hygroscopic. So due to moisture content in the fluid brake system starts malfunctioning. If all fine then check the greasing point of caliper in foundation. Disc system also has got small network, don't forget that. Master cylinder, Hose, Caliper. Also check if the hose is over expanding or not while applying brake. IF yes then better u buy steel braided pipe from New P220 Carb version. Wash the disc with soap and plain water and so the pads. Check whether pistons are working fine or not. I think flame has got 2 cups. so jus try pressing the brake lever lil bit if the piston comes slightly out then thing is working ok please don't press fully otherwise u will have to press the piston back in to caliper body which is hard for u. Carbon and dust, Oil can malfunction due to its layer on disc surface so wash it (plain water). (Liquid Vim is better option) Sometimes kitchen tools also help in repairing machine...hehehehe Neways let me know...

Thanks dude.
its not just about the petal disc. i myself have an RTR, an am very happy with the braking performance of the 270mm disc. its awesome. i need the same thing with my dads flame. its not a very expensive or complicated mod. can be done quite easily. and i know about the oxidation stuff. i just wanted to know the pros and cons of the conversion. |

Flame has comparatively a better Disc.....and there is nothing gonna happen after trasfering the Petal from RTR to it.....
Check ur Dad's Disc Brakes ...... there might be this or that issues will be there in it......

Hmm
maybe. i never appreciated bajaj discs, endurance systems werent good with brakes. The r15 and RTR brakes are wat i alwyas loved. dont have mucvh experience with ZMA, so cant comment. But i swear by the RTR's Brakes. BTW the flame comes with the same disc as Apache 150? U own a Flame ryght?? Any solutions to the Cold Start problems and Auto Fuel cock??

Yes ur right flame has the same disc what Fiero and apache 150 had......
Cold Start Problem - --- yes my flame also had the same issue till the first service.....At first service i said them about the problem - and after that the issue didnt creap up again..... But anyway since it uses Vaccum technology for Locking Fuel supply to the Carb.......U have to use choke for few secs while starting her in early Morning times..... Auto Fuel Cock --- i dont know wat solution u need .......Its one of the Feature of Flame.....and i dont think its an issue - rather its an advantage --- that u do not wanna check ur Fuel Tap status ........ Open the ignition key and by the same time keep ur ears neer the Fuel Tank Lock - u can hear a knob SOund---- that is the Fuel Knob opening ......

Chinmay Nothing happens by petal disc unless n untill the bike is kinda SBK. for TVS i m sure it is just a show and gimmic to attract ppl. Coz if at all it give better perfromance then yamaha would have brought petal disc in R15. Havent they got it now for the racing bike ? Petal disc is for better heat desipation. Doesn better heat dissipation help in improving performance?? I m sure RTR is not that much fastest moto which need petal disc either. Then Y dont u tell TVS that and tell them to give a drum instead and reduce the cost of the bike by ~10k so jus try pressing the brake lever lil bit if the piston comes slightly out then thing is working ok please don't press fully otherwise u will have to press the piston back in to caliper body which is hard for u. U want him to press the disc when ur pads are out ???For what joy ?? Carbon and dust, Oil can malfunction due to its layer on disc surface so wash it (plain water). (Liquid Vim is better option) Sometimes kitchen tools also help in repairing machine...hehehehe Neways let me know... ![]() Dude u seriously need some1 to review ur posts before anybody reads it man. FIrst u say Pulsar's dont have tappets and now the gyaan that petal discs are waste. ________ VAPORIZER REVIEWS Last edited by santoosh; 08-25-2011 at 06:38 AM. |
