Default How to upjet a thunderbird?

I am asking this question on behalf of a friend.
He has an enfield thunderbird. Wants to increase power. I recomended the K&N r1100. The only problem is upjetting. How do i Upjet the bike. It runs on bs 27 carb (P150 carb). Should I just plonk in a P200 carb?

Getting just the jets is a pain!! I'm still trying to get them and have failed so far. A lot of ppl tho just go ahead and plonk a 500 carb. If you have a trusty mech, he can handle it and wont make it a big deal. Of course, the costs are definitely more than simply upjetting. A friend of mine has a TB thats been running on a 500 carb like crazy for 2yrs now.

And btw, if you do get to know where to source jets, plz plz do let me know!

I got original Mikuni jets from CMW, USA. Last week I picked up a few from Bhuvan Chaudhury(Motomart), Pune. The Indian jets just don't have the finish/flow of the original Mikuni's. The only upside is the economy. Now, I'm talking to xbhp member Chinmay to bore out my existing original jets.

Meanwhile, a fellow bulleteer Anant, told me to order jets from Bajaj spare parts dealers. Apparently, they have parts books which have Mikuni BS main jets ranging from 110 to 140. I will try this out this weekend.

Meanwhile, the UCD32 of the new P220 should be a great fit on our bulls. So, I think we can try contacting the Bajaj dealers/spare parts dealers for jets as well as carbs.

Me n Jay will be working on Jets soon, may be 2morrow...

Till now I have fitted MJ135 on LB500 which is working perfectly. But might go for MJ140 soon (coz slight feel in high range peak level). In that I have changed the Air filter from stock to KnN, IR, SplitFire Cable n Goldie Free Flow Chamber. Soon I will be putting high Tension Clutch Springs.
So I recommand that unless n until u go for free flow exhaust chamber upjetting will not help a lot. Besides BS32 will fit but with some small changes.

SoulOnaRoll,

I bought a few jets from Chinmay 130-135-140 for my LB500. I do recommend them over Bhuvan's jets simply because they match the original Mikunis that I imported. Overall, I'm pretty pleased with the quality. Will be trying them this weekend if the weather is good.

Bibhu,

Shakeel makes good quality Goldstar replicas. He is based out of Wanowrie, Pune. PM me if you need his number.
