Default Exhaust charger ????

It was a question since when I saw a proton exhaust on RX-135 .
and on the site of KRP .

What is the use of it ??? some says to increase performance and sound??
does it really do so ??? by how much and does it effect the bike engine and life ????
Please try to put some light on it .

they suppose to reduce the back pressure of the exhaust gas , thus improves power and efficiency since more waste gases are expelled, downside is more noisy (read better sound)
the stock exhaust has to meet noise pollution norms and have to reduce the free flow to prevent pollution and noise.
personal experience my p220 exhaust opened up from the pipe-can joint and boy it was a really fast bike with a lovely thumping noise, had to get it fixed as it was in warranty.

Any aftermarket free flow type exhaust available for p220.
The KRP one look bad , hung on to the shocker nut. any other ones?

I have KRP Exhaust on my ZMA. The fit and finish is very good and it looks good too. (I terms of Looks you can have personal preferences). But i liked it.

There is a slight boost in top end. But slight.
My bike though has a K&N and it is upjetted too.
I am not sure how much gain will the exhaust give on a stock bike.

But there will be some, as stock exhausts have Cat Cons which limit the performance of the bike a bit, but these aftermarket exhaust dont have cat cons hence a slight increase can be expected.

As for pollution certificate I am not to sure. I went to get it done and the guy there just looking at my bikes condition did it and he didnt check the exact pollution levels.

As for other choices I am not very sure. There are many exhaust available but dont just get them for their sound.

I have heard about Proton exhaust though, they are supposed to be good.
Not seen on any bike as of now.

The one you saw on a rx was an expansion chamber, the one used on a four stroke is called a free flow exhaust. both work in opposite ways. The freeflow reduces back pressure there by increasing power in a four stroke.

I checked the KRP exhaust on their website. Yes, I agree the looks + fit and finish appears to be good. KRP also claims they are specially designed and tested for specific bikes.

How does it sound? I personally does not like loud ones. I have seen some bikes with aftermarket exhaust and they are pretty loud. I don't like to attract attention, especially by police.

I too have heard about protons. One mechanic asked whether I am interested. He did not have one to show me so I wont want to buy something that I am not familiar with. Any one can provide input here? A picture will also be helpful.
