  • How to increase the Seating Comfort of a Pulsar ?

One of the Pulsar's greatest -ve points and one of few things that the Bajaj has forgot to fix in every upgrade is it's seat. The seat is equally painful for both the rider and the pillion. After riding on that seat even for less than 10 KMS, my thighs aches and it's really a pain. The width of the seat is very less even for a lean fellow !

So I'm planning to modify the seat without jeopardising the safety & handling aspect. I don't want to increase the height of the seat since I'm only 166 CM.

Should I simply put some padding on the left & right sides from an upholstery shop ?

Which is the best way should to modify the seat ?

    Please help me.

        Consult Seat makers..

There are private seat makers, consult them. They will give you good advice on foams and how to make edges bit stronger than soft foam. Also the packaging of the foam in proper method. With proper seat cover and care to be taken.

I changed my Libero's seating and added cushion before selling it it gave me good pricing too.

        Hope it helps you.

Make the rider seat wider like that of the avenger and somehow if the slope of the seat is somehow eliminated for the rider seat, then it would be much more comfortable. Make it sort of a wider and a step seat. if the rider seat is widened by adding cushions on either sides and is made perfectly horizontal, it will be a lot more comfortable. I too have such plans after the rains.

Is there any problem in removing the slop of the seat ? I meant handling & safety wise...

Are you saying that the soft foam once installed will become hard as the time passes by ?

                  Thanks for the advice...

Anyway, I'm not going for any long rides on Pulsar.

My Max. ride per day (at a stretch) is about 50 KM.

Would you please explain(technically) why to put hard foam for long rides ?

I've successfully stuffed coir and re-stuffed the foam on my enfield's seat a year back, after which the ride is definitely more comfortable. More recently, a friend (and fellow member) who owns an MT-01 had to ride it back to mumbai from bangalore. The seat wasn't any more comfortable than your bike's, I think, because he finally folded a huge turkish towel and laid it on the seat before sitting himself. Temporary relief can be achieved by this I think

Seriously though, go to a seat expert and get the seat re-done. It won't be fun if it isn't comfortable enough.

                      Cheers,

Nope no change in handling and safety.I suggest elimination of slope so that there is no sliding down the slope of the seat when brakes are applied.

                          Thanks for everyone's advices.

Today, I met a bike seat specialist and he told me that he will put some padding on both the sides and also he'll re-stitch the entire seat with additional cushioning. Costs about Rs.550.

But, he told me that it's difficult to remove the slopping fully !

Anyway found a good site : DIYMotorcycleSeat.com - Home Page

                            Finally modified the seat !

Finally modified the seat and removed the slope of the seat(rider's side). And, slightly increased the width also.

                            Here are the pix :

                            Cost : Rs. 375
