while riding in chennai traffic....i often feel that my fazer's engine gets overheated (i can feel the heat on my legs inside my jeans)....as a general practice i try to keep the rpm low(2500-3500),,,most of the way is covered between 2nd-4th gear(mostly 3rd)....i am currently using normal petrol and got my bike serviced 2 days back....
any suggestions???shall i switch over to speed/power/extra premium petrol??? please help me out... ![]() ![]()

As per the description by you. All the air cooled engines requiered AIR to cool since you are riding your bike in the traffic in 2nd or 3rd gear with the RPM of 2500 to 3500.
1. 3rd gear, that means you need to control the bike with partucualry releted RPM. 2. Heating depends on load. (In first gear, continues riding means over heating issue. second slight less heat, third more less becuase till the time u have enough speed, forth gear means you have already with good speed n fifth is overdrive so speed, rpm and cooling is in ratio.) 3. In the traffic moving in 3rd gear is possible but lack of air for cooling. 4. try riding your bike where there is no traffic it won't heat. 5. Heating also depends on oil level and grade. Since you have just completed your service then it is possible that your carb may be too much lean. general best ratio is 14.7 at AFR. Or 2.5 to 3 turns of AF screw. (if you feel moist gas from exhasut tail then no need to worry.) Air cooled engines need air with with good quantity. Less speed with third gear means already in the load. If the atm. temp. is higher side then that is more problematic. That adds more temp. Some times petrol quality also makes huge differance. Please check the quality either. Adultration increases the heat drastically. so I feel first change the fuel (but normal unleaded only) and try to ride your bike on empty roads. Correct me if I am wrong.....
