I dont know much about these bikes but all that i know al share here, hoping for more of your inputs and if possible a service manual as well of this old kwacker.
I dont own one, but hope to do so some day
Heres what i know about the 125:
The kawasaki RTZ 125 was launched to tackle the famous RX series Yamaha bikes and the likes of the fiery Shogun. It came equipped witha 125CC 2 stroke engine, that put out 12-odd Bhp. at a good 7250 RPM's. It had a 4-speed and on highways begged for an extra cog.
The main USP here for the RTZ that set it apart and higher from the RX was its amazing handling. The RTZ was known to be a novice friendly bike, as one could just hop on and ride away with no handling issues. Handling always plays an important role in the functioning of the bike. For that day and age the handling stood aprt.
The Instrumentation was straight out of the future. The rectangular console incorporated a speedo, tacho, fuel guage and odo. The lay out was simple but the information displayed was really cool. I think it was the first bike with this combination of gizmo's. I wreckon the only other bike that came close was the RD but the RD did not come with a fuel guage.
The only reason the RTZ did not click well with the masses is because at that time Bajaj had to live with the pre-concieved notion of being a scooter maker primarily.
The reliabity factor of the RTZ too was amazing, probably the only bike form the Bajaj stable to sport the "most-reliable" sticker with ease.
The RTZ 125 did not sound like a houler, but chugged with the same pace as its competitiors.
The one and only time I rode the RTZ 125 was at the age of 13. It was one of the bikes i had ridden. I did not know squat about bikes then, but i sure loved the ride. Even more than the ride i had taken on the splendor the day before
, ( I did not know that you cannot compare a 2stroker to a 4 stroker then
). Hoping to ride the RTZ again real soonTill then heres a small spec sheet of the RTZ 125
