RE Classic 350 or 500? Suggestions Pls
I am unable to decide, which one to buy 350 or 500, though I have booked it on Jan 13th, and I have been told I will be getting it in 3 to 4 month. So I have three months to decide. So Pls suggest me in terms of Mileage, Price, Power........Tags: None

cummon man.. are you not able to decide between 350 and 500..
Its 500 all the way.. ya only if u have some money
..
Mileage :- Since its a FI model so a good mileage is expected. may be arnd
35 or so from this beast ( no idea about exact figure, since it
depends on your riding also)
Power :- 27.2 bhp and 41.3Nm of torque. So quite handful for city rides
as well as long tour.
Price :- ~ 1.5L /-
You can have more idea if you see the royal enfield site.

it's the torque which does all the talking on the 500...you get 18" wheels both upfront and back, mileage figure of slightly lesser than the 350,FI...that itself is more than enough to go for it...with roughly 35-40k price difference, the 500 is worth it IMO...as you said though,if you're a city rider most of the time,350 makes sense, but out on open roads, the 500 will give you that little extra...It all begins with a thumb-start -- Oh, wait, I forgot the kill-switch

the 500 is way much better than the 350..the fuel injection works like a marvel..The power in the 500 is addictive..ask yourself wot r the criteria's/points u want?Name-Hellraiser 2.0

Taken the test drive and its really very convincing, but I dont want to regret later, thus this thread.Originally posted by voodoo_god13 View PostTest ride the 500. May be that will have you convinced that the 500 is way more entertaining. It convinced me.
So thanks all, I think I shall consider 500 untill I get any inconvincing Post here.

If you can afford the initial investment (1.5L) and running cost (30~35 kmpl), then go for Classic 500. Its much better in performance (Power and torque) than Classic 350.
I myself booked Classic 350 because I cannot afford the 500. Its the best deal I can get in terms of investment (1.1L) and running cost (45~50 kmpl). I am happy with it.

another opinion
:
1. Will I do touring or ride in city only? if touring, 500fi is better..
2. in tours, do i want to cruise at 80 OR 100-110 ?
3. On long tours, Fi is definitely a plus.. also gives better throttle response for Fi..
if i have the moolah, I would have choosen 500 fi eyes closed, because I don't like speeds below 100 (given the road)

@Rizzz - Will you be doing more off-roads? or Just city and occasionally off-roads. I myself do city rides 90% of time and so opted for CL350. So it depends on two factors
1. Off road/ City: For Offroads, CL500 scores higher than CL350, for obviously more torque and displacement
2. Vitamin M.
CL500 has (or had) some FI problems at colder temperatures, which you can search in this forum. Not sure if its resolved in new units manufactured from Jan-2010.| Only a Biker knows why a dog sticks his head out of a car window |

^^ thats due to a open loop FI system that is tuned at a hotter and lower altitude place. it will get resolved soon.
I would like to add, the 18 inch wheels, add to stability, lowering the CoG. and also that the FI system helps reduce issues with the carburettor and tuning and maintenance etc.
