  • Bike for wife?

Hey guys, been planning to buy a non gear bike for my wife. Getting confused as i never thought about this segment.

Getting straight to the point without more nonsense

    Requirements:
    1. Value for money.
    2. Low maintenance
    3. Daily running would be 40km at least.
    4. Fuel efficiency above 45
    5. Good luggage space

    Shortlisted bikes as of now:
    1. Suzuki Access
    2. Mahindra Duro
    3. Honda Dio ( later choice coz of waiting)
    4. Honda Activa ( later choice coz of even more waiting)

Would really appreciate your views on this, which i know would be great.

    Topic Approved.

If you want a "bike" as in "motorcycle", how about the new TVS Jive that's there in the market - a clutch less motorcycle!

On a more serious note, out of the above list I would recommend the Suzuki Access or the Honda Dio/ Activa.

      Why not TVS Wego?
      Thats a pretty neat scoot!

From your choices the Access is a neat package but I would put my money on the Dio (coz I would still like to ride it whenever the wife is not around and am too lazy to shift gears)

@Aryan: The Jive is a fun bike man! I rode it and liked it! I think even MG rode it but didnt like it for the simple reason that he thought its a P220

I would suggest you to go for activa, though the waiting could be frustrating but this seems like the best out of the shortlisted lot. In case your wife is more than 5'5" you can check the Aviator also.

Access to go for and if you want something lighter and more agile - Dio.

Drop Duro straight away. Even though it has good space its plastic and ride quality is just BAD.

Can also check HH Pleasure if it is just for your wife and you don't want to wait.

Even I heard some bad stuff about new Mahindras, not as sturdy as original SYM Flyte.

Access is so good to ride, besides its engine braking is not much, so even if you leave throttle, the bike continues to be in same speed, just like Electric bike. This results in better mileage. Flyte's accelerator is heavily linked with the speed, so once you let go of the accelerator, the speed suddenly drops. You have to constantly burn petrol at higher rpm for maintaining speed in Flyte.

Take a test ride of Access and Activa, and decide. Pleasure is also good, but then all the honda 100cc scoots, activa, Dio, Pleasure etc are similar.

If I were choosing a scooter for my wife, my first choice would be Access 125 & second Honda Activa.
PS - We still have Honda Activa 2005 model, its good & we like it, but I somehow find Access 125 better to ride; doesn't give that hefty feeling.

the zuki over the onda, coz of the long as ell waiting period for the onda.

get the access, if you can live with the mediocre looks.. but it gets the job done well.

activa/dio is the best bet...if you can do with the waiting period.I even found the rodeo to be pretty good...
It all begins with a thumb-start -- Oh, wait, I forgot the kill-switch
