Kemmannagundi! What a place!
Umpteen number of waterfalls and the green misty mountains are a treat to the eyes. The place should be visited only in rainy season or in winter! I happened to be from the neighboring district. Anyways, bring it on dude!

The first day
The First Day
(Caution: huge text ahead)
dosas. The roads now cleared a bit and I was ready to roar ahead, but the other two bikes (a P150 classic and a Disco 135) were simply not keeping up, so I contained my speed to the sixties and kept ahead of the bunch. The scenery around was not very captivating in general, except for some hills near Tumkur. We stopped for a tea-and-fag break there, and then got back on the road. But the bikes, already abused by their heavily built riders, had plans of their own. While mine and the P150 zoomed ahead, the Disco decided to tread on a nail and get a couple of punctures. Worse, there was no network for the guys to call us up when it happened. We had moved ahead and stopped for some cold drinks, some seven km ahead, when they called us and we traced our way back to them. They were getting the puncture fixed at a cycle shop :P and finally the air was filled using a cycle pump ^_^. After reaching quite close to one of the town near Kemmanngundi, we stopped for lunch in a dhaba with huts and ordered biryani for all to cut delays in preparation.
Amidst coffee estates
A (pleasant) break in the scenary
Crossing the streams
Camera shake due to low-light
The first look
Folks enjoying at the bottom
Aa gaaya

Dude, never mind! There is always the next time. Try the same when it rains. It has a charm of it's own! Hope, you made it to the guest house(Govt, beautiful view from the top) and the Z-point.Originally posted by diffuser911 View Post

BTW, people speak Kannada in Karnataka not Telugu!
One more, the coffee estates with 'Cafe Coffee Day' group boards belong to Mr. Siddhartha, Mr. S. M. Krishna's(Minister for External Affairs) son-in law.

Thanks dude. I missed both the things due to the delay induced by my non-tourer friends, even though I had planned for visiting.Originally posted by Makky View PostDude, never mind! Don't get me wrong, but I know that much about our country
. My friend was speaking in Telugu and trying to get his message across using some words he had picked up during his stay in Bangalore.

Day 2 - Mullayanagiri
Day 2
The road for Mullayanagiri, which passes through Chikmangalur, was at a little distance from the hotel and I was already cursing my luck as I went just 100 meters into it. The road had more holes than a rawa
Just before I enter Chikmangalur
First time in my life have I seen peaks so high
peethJ.
Hazy scenery down below
The road to the top
The hills around
The Rajpoot
Clouds floating down the hills
The road that goes back down
Sharp edges!
A lake somewhere down there
The typical bold and burly pose for my bike
A hairpin bend ahead
Found this micro-waterfall on the hillside
One last look
The bike was parked in the garage for three days continuously for the first time since I had come to the city. The 750 km covered in two days had broken my back and the rest of the body too. The only injury I received on this trip was in my right hand from my kada when I fell off my bike and was not wearing my gloves, and a few scratches received from a tree branch lashing at the same hand on Bangalore-Tumkur stretch, again without my gloves. Overall, the trip was a learning experience for me, since I knew now not to head into the wild without knowing some basic maintenance stuff and carrying some spares. It also taught me the importance of having riding gear, and using it too. As the next weekend arrives, I have started daydreaming again.
