Test rode the Ducati 848 today !
I think I am gonna stick to Inline 4s for sure.
I see myself upgrading to a V4 but prolly never to an L2 or V2.

know someone(over forums) who got an RC8 after ditching 1000RR(though the person still has another 1000RR) and the feeling isn't a great one,

                        Came out wrong .
I rode my friends Ducati 848 in exchange for my Blade.
I loved the gurgle a lot at low rpms. But the same gurgle become interference at high rpms. For me, V-twins/L twins sound very agricultural.
The best part of the bike is its bloody narrow design. Pushing the knees against the tank under heavy braking is such a nice thing to do. So assuring. Its so narrow it fits like what a see-saw seat does betwen your legs.
But then again..a hell lot of pressure on your wrists.
                        Head turner ?? Hell Yeah!
Clutch could be a lot easier to operate. Its pretty hard.
Nimble and light? Yes yes and yes. Handles like a dream.
Steering damper ? We dont put that on an 848 cause it costs only 17lacs !
No analogue rpm meter. I cant read my rpms if i dont have them analogue. Its called the digirevphobia. I suffer from that disorder.
                        Vibrations ? A LOT.

All in all...i cant seem to understand what all the fuss is about!
The twins are exciting bikes. They are Exotic (Not in performance..in price). They are just way too different than what I look for in a bike. I would like to own one someday in life but it would not be anywhere in the near future. Many better bikes out there that could be had first. The high price tag could also be resulting in me being biased in my opinion though! It could be the 'grapes are sour' kinda trick that the mind is playing on me.

Torque is fun to have for most riding, but on the other hand there's no substitute for horsepower.
But I am still interested in riding it.. am thinking I will swap the bike with him a little longer the next time..like a day or two.

That is the typical reaction of someone who is not ridden a V-twins!

The day you will understand what the fuss is all about, you will also understand why most of the fast vehicles on the planet are Vees and Ws. Be it Ducs or Bugattis!

I am on my One. The 1098 leaves my One gasping for breath behind by several bike lengths!
The Wheel was a great invention; Two Wheels with a Motor in between was even better!

You are our Noriyuki Haga and that is why you aren't doing justice to the R1, we need a Ben Spies for your 1

Well if its gonna HAVE a lot of vibrations then, typical or not, one will say it has a lot of vibrations. Its got nothing to do with how new you are to the bike...its got everything to do with the bike and its vibrations itself lol.
I refuse to buy your second argument. I prefer concrete figures or tech specs and not the usual 'its got a soul' kinda arguments.

                              P.S I didnt ride a Vtwin. 848 is an L twin.
