  • Bikers meet for a cause- Leh!!!

    Dear All,

Its been quite a few days now that Leh went through the trauma. And it was heart warming to see we all standing together expressing our concern.

I hereby propose a Get Together on the 22nd of August in Delhi, at the Dhaba to take the things further up from here.

The agenda of the Get-together would be to discuss in person how things are to be carried out and to assign the duties to the Volunteers. I also request the mates to come up with suggestions and all possible help.

Ok, donations and all can be taken care of later, first of all, I think we should sit and discuss how to shape up the things, hence the Get-Together.

Lets hear the confirmation and see the efforts.

    dcs

P.S: The timings can be 7.30 AM. Also would appreciate, if for this time around, we keep the small talks aside and get the tings working. Hope I am not misunderstood.
Its not about the BHP or the CC, its about one common religion called Biking!!!

Save the Tigers! Only 1411 (excluding ME) are left!

This is my entry in the blogging world!!

So, have we come to a plan of action?

We were not able to thrash out a concrete plan of action. However some guys will be doing a few things.
                  1. A few members will talk with NDTV regarding donations in kind.
                  2. A member will be talking to the Airforce regarding transfer of relief material.

A general pointer for all Xbhpians: If anyone of you have any friend with local knowledge about what is exactly needed by the people there (tent material/woolens/hygiene stuff) then please let us know on this thread.
It was also suggested that we could do an all india donation drive through GiveIndia.org (The same org which was used in the gift a dream ride by Bluevolt)

The amount can be handed over to a responsible charity or we will transport it through the airforce/NDTV/(any corporate which is sending relief material)

@ALL: If your organization is working on sending relief material in kind, then please let us know. We could quickly do a donation drive among all xbhpians (My suggestion: Cash donation from all over india through giveindia and then buy blankets/essential stuff from factories near Delhi(Ravi sir suggested something about panipat factories manufacturing woolens))

If the logistics don't work out, we will tie up with some charity (NDTV initiative was preferred - DCS/Sunny Matharu will be getting details of another charity)

Thanks Sunil for pointing it out. Accordingly, this was my major concern, and hence I had asked for a meet.

Unfortunately, few of us were too less interested or were too tied up to show on the morning.

Nonetheless, let me not crib about the disinterest shown by the majority of us, including me.

Now that Sunil has pointed out the concern, lets work in the right direction. Give me a day's time, will come up with some relevant information by Wednesday. Also, Lets not forget, that Leh will take some time to recover from the damage, and it would never be tad too late to offer our help in what ever way.

                        dcs

P.S: As pointed out in the image uploaded by Sunil, the need is of the hour is largely unmet. So, we will try to ensure that we provide things that are required. I wonder, how could bottled water be required in the area, most of the travellers wont carry a bottle with them. Just my thought.

I talked to a couple of NGO's today and the most flexible one I found was Save The Children I told them we are ready to donate stuff as long as they can provide us transportation for the goods and all.. They told me they'll get back to me with all the details.. I'll update here once I get a call from them.

We can take this forward in the next G2G. Discuss, How we can go about the things and what all options we have right now, and pick the best one.
Patience is something you admire in the driver behind you and scorn in the one ahead.

Just spoke to a Volunteer with Pragya

please visit About us and see if this would be good.

The Organization is working on its own, has its volunteers deputed at the site, accepting help in cash and kind.
