    endeavor to cross landslides to reach Gangotri...

    it was Friday, was posting landslide news updates at Forum after having a talk with a friend at Uttarkashi... suddenly i thought that we always go to Gangotri when everything is normal, then why not visit when everybody is been warned no to go...
    just madeup mind and booked saturday night train to Haridwar... initially wanted to go on my Bull but then realized that roads are closed at many places and landslides have blocked & sucked roads at many places...
    boarded DD Exp at 23.55 (NZ) and reached @ 04.05 am @ Haridwar... took auto to reach bus stand and found bus for Rishikesh waiting for me , it dropped me rishikesh around 5.00 am.
    it was drizzling lightly outside, took auto to go Natraj Chowk and found press taxi waiting for passengers... hopped and waited for more passengers... at last had enough passengers and it started towards Uttarkashi...
    found many small blockages and slush... found landslide just ahead of Agrakhal...
    there was a line of vehicles waiting for JCB to arrive... and it did come in few minutes...

      i have started this thread to just make you people see what nature can do it it comes on its own...
      after negotiating some more small not not worrying stretches reached Uttarkashi at 13.00... the taxi dropped me at petrol pump. i inquired for road updates ahead and came to know that i can go ONLY upto Bhatwari as road is blocked further. i knew where i had to go to get another taxi for Bhatwari and found one standing calling passengers...
      it took 30 mts for us to reach Bhatwari...
      when i got down the taxi i told the driver where have you dropped me?? this is not Bhatwari... he said "bhaisaab aadha bhatwari khatam ho gaya, ab aisa hi hai...
      my god , i was stunned to see the condition of the place... road were torn, whole village crumbled...

          Devilish, yess its completely ruined... felt like am walking thru a region blasted by US army... i saw atleast 100 houses/shops completely destroyed...

          crossed Bhatwari and reached taxi stand to inquire whether there is any possibility to go ahead?? everybody said that it is very difficult to find Taxi further as severe landslide have taken place and road is all gone at many places... i told them my wish to go to Gangotri and one person said, "bhaiya kyu mazak kar rahe ho... aage aapke pata nahi kitna danger hai... "
          i saw time, it was 15.30 and Bhatwari was 15 kms ahead... luked towards Gangotri side & remembered Ganga maa , and said i am coming take care..
          it was drizzling and i started my walk...
