hey guys this is my first thread in the forum so please forgive any mistake if i make one..
my dad promised me a bike for next year college and i wanted you guys to tell me what should i go for
i'll list my priorities that will help you help me..
    1- grunt
the bike must have enough power to make the pillion hold for his dear life..
    2- comfort
i love touring and have done numerous 200kms trips on my pulsar 180 2010 model and would like comfort as well as enjoyable ride while touring(also note i m 6ft tall)
    3-sexy looks
    going to college.... hmmmmm....
    4-mileage
must b atleast 35 in city
    5-low maintainence
i dont want monthly trips to the garage
i am not interested in street racing and such but the bike must atleast have enough muscle to pop up wheelies and stoppies....
thanx 4 your time and concern..
[note:i am 6 feet tall so please consider touring problem if i go for the r15]

1.Apache RTR 180 , P220, Karizma though karizma wont fetch u that grunt

      2. Karizma

      3. Looks are subjective dude take ur own pick here

      4. All bikes will get u near about same mileage

      5. Some spares for ZMA is unjustifiably expensive though u dont need monthly visit for it. No idea abt RTR and P220.

P.s R15 is in six figures

          Questions
          1. Do you want a motorcycle to ride & have fun or take people for a ride so that you see them holding for their dear life & have fun at that? If that's the case, then you need find a litre class motorcycles.

Looks are purely subjective. Most people love the busa, but I don't find anything interesting in the looks of busa except the engineering, however, I'm in mad love with Triumph Bonneville that has age old look. So find the one that's most appealing to you.

Depends on your riding style; it is perfecly possible to abuse the vehicle & yield a low mileage. But I've a question, why 35, why not 60 or 25?

Again depends upon the riding style. If you make mistakes when you ride, you're bound to land up the vehicle to A.S.S soon. Learn the art of safe riding by going through this forum, read books such as "Zen & the art of motorcycle maintenance" & you'll be fine.

Sorry to say @dushyant, if my Son were thinking like this, he's never to get even my age old Rx for a ride. From all your questions, it appears you're trying to freak out with a motorcycle rather than enjoy riding it. There're enough number of such people on the road & I would not take responsibility to encourage such people & that's the reason I asked you to go through the forum, understand safe riding. Come back with your REQUIREMENTS or INTEREST rather than owning a yet another commuter on the road.

Last but not the least, when you go to a restaurant, you order for the food that you love & you do not say I've Rs XX & bring me any food within Rs XX that should have so much of spice, so much of chillness.

Can you tell me the difference between around & within one Lakh pls? I'm a little poor in understanding.

Thanx for your time and concern
i understand your emphasis on safe riding and i myself am very serious on this as i've had a major accident in the past but i think if i am going to invest 1 lakh in a bike then it should atleast give me some performance advantages too.

As of my interests i guess my bike would be mostly used to do daily college trips and weekly long trips ranging from 100-200 kms with a pillion....
and i usually ride sanely so could you give me mileage figures keeping that in mind...

the bike must have enough power to make the pillion hold for his dear life..

A Pulsar 220F DTSi & Apache 180 will give you that grunt. You'll also get some grunts & a lot of punches from your pillion if your aim is to trouble her/him.

              2- comfort

The ZMR wins in this category as the Pulsar 220 seats are not that comfy for long rides.

              3-sexy looks
              going to college.... hmmmmm....

The FZ-16, R15 win in this criteria.

              4-mileage
must b atleast 35 in city

              Pulsar 220F DTSi - 35
              ZMR - 35-40
              Apache 180 - 40-45
              FZ 16 - 30-40
              R15 - 40-45

              5-low maintainence
i dont want monthly trips to the garage

Hero Honda is the best bet here

i am not interested in street racing and such but the bike must atleast have enough muscle to pop up wheelies and stoppies....

Dude even a Honda Dio can pop a wheelie & stoppies. Ask fellow xBhpian Hemank.
So all bikes mentioned above can do it easily.

thanx 4 your time and concern..

But @dushyant, if you'd one such experience, then you shouldn't be saying something like the above.

Again, this quite contrary from the above.

I would strongly suggest you to use - http://whatbike.xbhp.com/selector.php for your requirements.

it seems all u want is your girlfriend sitting at the back should hold u tight, u must be feeling the grunt and power of to thrill and at the same time it should be lighter on pocket..

buddy just kidding... Plz don't mind

i would suggest you to go with a R15 which will be perfect for ur recommendations but as of mileage its a bit low but if you consider a Apache i don't like the because of its tendency to vibe a lot and moreover i think its not as reliable as a R15. you can even try the new ZMR or even a Ninja but i haven't drove them, but as of ZMR the parts are very costly my R15 side fairing costed me 700.00 where as my friends side fairing of his ZMR costed him around 5000.00

Actually Rajit you've guessed spot on, on what i want ;-)
My only concern with r15 is my height(6ft) and touring discomforts

if ur 6ft in height that may be a bit uncomfortable but as of touring its good i have driven it for around 400kms in a single day on ghats with really very bad roads it was good, then my suggestion would be go for a unicorn but its ultra smooth vehicle, what about ZMR?

Ya ZMR is my first preference but i am also considering p220 and thats confusing me .....
I haven't got conclusive mileage and maintainence figures to compare them both...
