  • What can happen if starter button is pressed during riding by chance?

What actually happens when we by mistake press the starter button instead of horn button while riding?

does it harm the starter or flywheel(the object in connection with starter's mesh) ?

      Depends:
Modern bike: Probably nothing will happen, since it knows the engine is running.
Old bike: It could damage the starter gear and the teeth on the flywheel if it is engaged while running.

Most bikes with electric starters come equipped with an engine check. If the engine is running then the starter will not actuate at all.

All Pulsars have this. Must be similar in other bikes too.

many times unknowingly, I did this on my scooty and super splendor and you hear a clinking, bell type noise which you immediately know why it has come and take the hand off the button. Occasional mistakes do happen nothing to fear.

I have seen many foolish people keeping pressed the starter button if the vehicle fails to start, mostly ladies on scooty, kinetic honda, inspite of knowing it wont start on battery, they will keep on pressing the button and the starter motor, will literally cry,

Never actually tried. Though this seems unusual, as Karizma-R will not start when gear is engaged. Is yours 'R' version?

Still, I wouldn't try it to see what actually happens .

Nothing happens on my Pulsar.. But on other bikes, this shouldn't be done as it will damage something and that is the reason why BAL probably installed the engine-on cut-off.

Sort of funny to hear how many manufacturers save a few rupees by not including the engine running check on their "premium" bikes.

Pull in the clutch with gear engaged and press starter (clutch pulled)/ kick, see if that starts your machine...
