Yeahh... this way having more variants of Pulsar would make sense! Coz, right now, pulsar 135, 150, 180, 220, just confuses an ordinary person. For me it's like buying tooth-paste, 50gm, 100gm, 250gm... Sorry, Bajaj fans.. just my opinion..
lol. Now we can have like Colgate: Colgate Total, Colgate Cavity Protection, Colgate Simply White, etc..
Also, Mr. Rajiv Bajaj could get rid of some brand in future.. It would be making the portfolio more valuable.. for him.. of course!
He can have more dealerships, selling different brands, more money for him.
Good move I say.. Was thinking about this from past two days, about the benefits (for him), initially was wondering why... Now I get it!sigpic

I m not bajaj fan. A kid can differentiate between the number 135 and 220 so where's the confusion for ordinary person. They cater needs of different categories of persons in terms of power and price retaining the name 'pulsar'. The example that u have given seems bit irritating , just come to ground level and dont think that everybody see the world according to ur eyes.Originally posted by cyclone2k View PostYeahh... this way having more variants of Pulsar would make sense! This is very good thinking. Moreover it's a time tested method.. there are brands like Ferrari owned by Fiat.. but most of the people don't know that!! Keeping long term interests in view.. this would be a great first step. Already we can see that P135 doesn't have Bajaj logo on tank.. but on engine. But, not so many people would pay attention to that, isn't it??Let's bring down the monster of corruption to it's knees.. please visit http://ipaidabribe.com/

To an extent, it is true that people do get confused by the CCs. What many do is that they simply look at the brand and not the power or torque or power to weight figures. Of course, all those who are on this forum won't be confused by this but one should never take a layman for granted.Originally posted by ruby View PostA kid can differentiate between the number 135 and 220 so where's the confusion for ordinary person.
This strategy is good for Bajaj as it will establish Pulsar as out and out performance brand and discover as commuter. An ordinary man who wants performance (yes there are people who know nothing but want a performance bike) will simply walk into Pulsar showroom and then buy according to his budget.
Eitherway this is more or less strategy of HH where they have built upon passion brand so people buy regradless of what's in it just because it is passion.

The problem is, it is not always the smart kid who goes to buy a bike.. Please spare some time at your nearest Bajaj showroom and see what kind of customer questions they get. Most people I went there with, were just confused with different Pulsars. You might say I stay with dumbs, but most people are like that. And that's the harsh, ground level reality!Originally posted by ruby View PostI m not bajaj fan. A kid can differentiate between the number 135 and 220 so where's the confusion for ordinary person. I can sure distinguish them, and what I said was not solely my view... it is a common perception.
My near people aren't bike people, so I get their opinion, how they see the world, I also get to see world from xBhp people's point-of-view. For one such person, Stunner's semi-fairings seemed like Elephant's ears, which I felt was hilarious.. What's your opinion. Don't get irritated pal.. Chill out!
For you, if you see two pulsars parked right in front of you facing headlights (wolf-eye), can you differentiate the capacities (150 or 180 or 200 or new 220) just from that point!
Also, if I am paying for a 220cc bike, if that looks like a 150cc one.. it sucks big time for me! Don't know about others.. Looks too do matter for me! Now don't suggest me the semi-faired version!
Different names with same specs, like for Hero Honda, it works to cater masses, than different specs with same name, like Bajaj. I'm sure, Bajaj wants to target masses not the niche.
What I further say, just wait and watch.. how Bajaj will roll it now.. I am pretty sure, they will make distinct looking Pulsars now for different capacities.. 135LS is one such step.Last edited by cyclone2k; 01-16-2011, 10:39 PM.sigpic

This has no relation with ur colgate example but i agree with u on this point. Though there is no limit to say a bike to be premium one yet if customer pays higher amount he definitely needs a distinct looking bike along with higher power.Originally posted by cyclone2k View Post

I was just saying that, it would be better and it might also be the intention of Bajaj to create distinct looking variants? Maybe I am not able to draw relation with my example for this case for you, but you are getting my point, don't you??Originally posted by ruby View PostThis has no relation with ur colgate example but i agree with u on this point. It may also be an intention to create different brands, so that they can dump it to some other company later on, when it become dogs for them... It maybe possible, Honda buys the brand and revives it back..
lol. Then, I might buy a Pulsar!
Bajajs have always been into merging and splitting holdings and not caring for it's investors...sigpic
