  • [Photo Feature]: Home made Electric Sport bike

Hi Guys. Finally after the Rd-Dio, Kart, Electric Comet, Yamaha(mix of 4) Electric superbike with a KTM 6 speed transmission (well unfortunately dint have money to complete it with li-ion batteries ) I have something nice to show u this time

As u guessed it, Its a Usable, cheap(compared to other of the same specs), and fun electric ZERO emission (I feel so nice not polluting), quiet (although u can hear the Chain a lot louder than the motor :P) Bike

    Well Specs would be
    10KW DC sepex motor
Curtis controller (programmed for higher range and gentle torque characteristics) - well I intend it to be a fun commuter than a race machine.
Single speed - No gears this time :P
Both brakes on hands (Like an activa or kinetic) - hydraulic front dual disc, rear single disc
Single sided swing arm - rear
    front dual upright shocks
    Aluminum twin tube frame
    front tyre size - 120/70/ZR17
    Rear tyre size - 160/70/ZR17
Lead acid (cheap, but heavy and bulky), DEEP discharge (Like inverter batteries) - so longer medium current delivery time. unlike car batteries.
Did the mechanical stuff myself, electronics, was initially helped by kunal thaggarse, but then I completed it myself. (sorry kunal n thanks.)

Well yea it performs pretty ok. We tested its acceleration with a NC29 and it keeps up with the comet till 75 kmph. Then the fireblade shoots. I guess thats enough of acceleration for a daily commuter

Top speed - Not tested But should do about 120 to 130 kmph. Will be updated soon with practical results

Range - Minimum : Full load condition : 30 Km on a full charge
    Maximum : Ideal conditions : 140 Km :P
Practical : Not tested. Will be updated

Its a Fun bike, Needs a BIG horn (yet to purchase) as NOBODY HEARS THE DAM BIKE. :P

Well I still need to dress her up (fairings - but getting there. also need a new tyre - rear - 160/70/ZR 17 -if u do have one for sale, pl inform on my email listed below.)

Registration - trying, but if anyone has contacts, please help. I have all bills of purchased raw materials (Taxes paid)

    Thanks. Stay tuned for updates

    Cheers

    Hemank

Great applause to your Hemank Brilliant work.

Pardon my noob question, what is it that makes difficult to last one charge for a range of 300 Kms? Reason being that, I'd personally like to own an electric scooter/step-thru (for touring) that has...
              Top speed - 100 Kmph
              Range - 300 Kms
              Pay Load - 120 Kg
Charging time - 50% under an hour & full charge under 4 hours

What is still evolving? Is it the technology in battery or something else? Pls educate. Tks

No matter, how it looks, you have done a commendable job my friend. Seriously, a electric bike with 60 Km average and 120-130 kms topspeed is more than enough in any given city ...

One question: How much time does it take to recharge fully ?
