    Over speeding in running in time did it hamper my bike life?

    Hi,
    I bought my new P150 6 months ago. After purchasing I gave it to a guy to bring to my home as I was a novice and really afraid of running the bike in highways. The guy took a speed of around 100KM/PH and bring it to my home. He told me that it is ok for a bike to get a speed of 100 kmph as it is new. Afterwords i head that at running in I should never cross 50kmph mark as this can harm the engine. So after that I maintained the rule and I am changing the oil every 2k km. Now I am using Castrol Power1.
    Guys please tell me that is my engine ok or it being f**ked by the guy whome I gave it to bring? I love my bike very much and I do everything to keep it in good condition. I need an expert comment please help me

    Hi,

    NOrmally, a quick high-speed burst shouldn't be much of a concern for a bike in the running in. Engines exposed to sustained high-speed can develop some problems. So you shouldn't be worried if this was a one-off case unless you see some sign of problems in your bike.

    So just check that your bike is not running roughly, not getting over-heating, not giving excessive smoke, and not consuming engine oil when you go for engine oil change. If you see nothing from the above list, then don't worry, just take good care of your bike.

      i wrote a long post but got washed away in bat internet connection.

      anyway, all i wanted to say is kick that fool's ass man.

      your bike did suffered damage due to that foolish action.....the extent of damage may not be visible now and may become evident later.

        Most of the running in is accomplished in the first 100-200 kms of riding.. So a blast at that point was not necessarily good.

        But if you keep a close eye on oil consumption, you would know if there is any detrimental effect on the engine. Dont fret now... just make sure u dont loose interest in the bike,and give it its due.. thats all..
