  • Need guidance to start SZ engine in cold mornings during run-in period

    Hi,
I bought my SZ-R last Thursday (Feb 17) and have ridden her 207km so far. I live in Goa and here at night the temperature drops down to 18 degrees. So in the morning i start the engine using choke, keep it fully down for 15sec, then pull it up completely and keep the bike idle for some 2min before riding her off. And i keep the revs close to 3k for the first 3-4km. Tell me if this warming technique is faulty, cause i really don't wanna harm her in any way during the run-in.

And one more thing: is it illegal to ride without the saree guard? Well, i wanna remove it.

You are doing fine,no probs, and generally Cops dont look for Saree guards,so your safe.
"And i keep the revs close to 3k for the first 3-4km"
      No need to do that

You are doing it the right way only.

Heres my way of starting my bike(yamaha gladiator) in mornings. I guess the same applies to all the non-fi motorcycles except pulsar (autochoke).

First open the choke fully and use the kick starter to start the bike. With the choke ON the rpm shoots up for a while. In meanwhile depress the clutch lever for a few times. This is done to release the sticky clutch plates. Now after a few seconds the rpm comes to normal idle rpm & at that time close the choke. Then ride the bike for a 3-4kms with rpm around 4k. After that your engine should be warmed up enough & you can ride as you like.

        Hope this helps.
