Trendy battery-operated scooterettes, Yobykes, will be offered on rent under the rent-a-bike scheme in the city from June this year. The Pune district transport authority on Tuesday approved the scheme, under which a person unwilling to travel by bus or autorickshaw can hire such two-wheelers for travel.
Initially, the scheme will be launched on a trial basis in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad. Three franchisees will be located in Wanavdi, Kothrud and Chinchwad areas. The Wanavdi-based franchisee, Jadhav Motor Training School authorities, said only people 18 years and above with driving licence will be allowed to rent the vehicles.
