  • My 11 Minutes with R1 : Dedicated To All R1 Owners

It was a casual Saturday morning today just like the every other saturday but today i decided to head out to the Honda outlet to enquire about the CBR 600 RR as to when it would come to India.
Also i wanted to checkout the CBR 1000RR/Fireblade in person.

Living in Mumbai , I have never seen any superbike or supersport in person except the Ducati's in showroom in town side that too from a long distance. [I know this might sound strange]

Close to my house, i have a Yamaha showroom which have all the Yamaha bikes available in Mumbai on display.

Its just stone thrown away from my house a 5 mins walk but i never went there but today i decided to just go there and checkout the R1.

After reading Strider's R1 Papercut Dream LINK. I wanted to know whats about the R1 that people like it so much so had to check it out.

I took the steps towards the showroom and just as i stepped inside there it was standing the Yamaha R1 , God i was blown away by the sheer size of this bike my jaws might have dropped on the floor
if i could even do that, my eyes were just focused on the bike rest everything in the background was all faded.

Its so damn huge the thousands of pics , wallpapers just cant do justice to what if feels like to see one in real.

For the first time i touched it, a "wordscantdescribe" kinda feeling went through my body. I was just staring at the minutest detail of the bike and asking myself, am i on planet earth.
Man cant possibly have made this magnificent looking machine. Its so unbelievable yet real standing in front of me.

I just could get myself out of the showroom but i had to somehow control my heart and let my mind take my footsteps out, its been one of the best saturdays I have had in my life
and words cant describe the R1. My Dad had also accompanied me, though he loves cars but he too was all praises after looking at the R1.

To all the R1 Owners all have a gem of a ride, But i had a great time with the R1 while it lasted.

I will be heading to the Honda showroom as i just found out that the showroom which has the CBR 1000RR on display is a bit far from my place.

Thanks for the appreciation. Been riding this machine for close to 50 000 kms. And it performs even better than it looks!
The Wheel was a great invention; Two Wheels with a Motor in between was even better!

        Sir jee,

50,000kms is tooooo much for a class litre bike. Either you have Khajana to maintain it or you are in love..

@ Quad Master: I understand exactly what you felt, bro.

I too had such a feeling seeing the 2007 R1 (red and white) first time in flesh, and sitting on it. It was a magnificent sight and feeling... I saw it when Yamaha organized an event in my city, way back in 2007.

It seemed like god himself created the perfectly hellish proportions and dimensions! And the sporty riding position made me feel like I evoluted to the ultimate rider! And the console had all the things a biker would want!

But since then its 4 years, & I have seen many more R1's, CBR 600's, old model Ninja ZZR1400's, etc. in my city that its almost normal to see them now. The "seeing" craze is almost gone.

Couldn't ride anyone of them though, but maybe a Ninja 650R is coming for me some months down the line?

            @ Quad Master

            This is almost how I felt like, when I rode a 1985 Bullet when I was 14, a BMW when I was 16, and a TATA 1210 I was 18..
