          points to be noted:
          1. its still seems to be a single sided swingarm
2.the rear shock is horizontal or almost horizontal like the ZX-10R.
          3. the rear section may still not be complete or this bike may be the WSBK bike like the aprilia RSV4 factory they use in WSBK.
          4. if my observation is right, then the exhaust is a short one coming out from the right side or directly under the rider.

The fairing is now over the front hub. And the tail is on the rear hub. Quite like the RSV4. This styling trend is catching up with many bike makers.

although it's largely hidden under the disguised bodywork, it appears that the trellis frame has been ditched, as expected, in favour of a monocoque as used on the firm's GP bike
This was very much expected. The GP7 had this chassis, using the engine as a member of the chassis giving exceptional rigidity and less frame size.

Wish Indian bikes could have this, although Indian bikes have such small engines that they can't be part of the chassis this way.

The rear shock has been mounted horizontally and the swingarm appears to be enormously long.
which means more rear grip but lesser wheelies.

Overall, I think now Ducati are going to be more successful in the sportsbike market for various reasons, Rossi's impact being one of them, and other reasons like this bike's apparent brilliance, and Japan's recent tragedy affecting Japanese companies.

Guys, can anyone tell me why would they choose a horizontal monoshock for this Superbike? Even Ninja 650R uses slightly horizontal monoshock, despite both machines being in different leagues.

AFAIK there is no special advantage in the position of placement of the rear shocks. Here ducati might have placed it because the whole bikes design requires it to be placed horizontally for it to function to the optimum and also maybe to lower the CoG.

Really interested in the whole engine specific design.A fall and the repair is not only going to cost more but also really hard to do as well.Just my view on it.Although i sure can bet this one is going to create quite a buzz on the SBK world.

The ninja ZX-10R uses the same horizontal likage system, which adds to mass centralization (compared to a vertical one), more senstivity (i.e more displacement with the same amount of load) which also results in better feedback for the rider.

Seems like a whole new definition to motorcycling is about to written with the new engine. Unlike previous Ducatis, this looks less like a L-twin and more of a proper V-twin. N yes, the horizontal monoshock is still looks to me doubtful to design. Also, someone mentioned that the trellis frame has been replaced by monocoque. I think that it is more of a covered thing. Means, the trellis frame is hidden under what we saw on the outer side...

Can we have some more information on this??
