^^ Ya but they could possibly use Hero Moto as their brand unless they intend to use Hero MotoCorp as a standard name everywhere.

Or they might go the bajaj way, say like only Splendor, CBZ, Karizma, Passion and then a small logo saying Hero MotorCorp Ltd Remember how Hero Cycles had it

People will think "Hero MOTA Karizma" (In Hindi, The FAT Karizma of Hero Company).

Anyways, the latest update is that on Friday, Hero Honda got the shareholder's approval on the matter, so its almost a final name. I told them make it "Hero India" so that it rhymes to "Hero Honda", but damn, which company personnel reads Xbhp anyways?

NEW DELHI: Hero Honda Motors Ltd, the world's largest two-wheeler company by volume, on Friday got shareholders' approval to change its corporate name to Hero MotoCorp Ltd.

The shareholders' approval will now be forwarded to the Registrar of Companies for final changes. Japan's Honda Motor is exiting Hero Honda Motors after a 27-year partnership with the Munjals' Hero Group. The joint venture was India's largest motorcycle manufacturer with more than half the domestic market.

The Munjals hold the right to use the Hero Honda name till 2014. The company, which has assigned London-based brand specialist Wolff Olins to developed a new look for it, plans to export to Latin America, Africa, West Asia and Southeast Asia.

The Hero Group, for its part, hopes to explore new products and export opportunities now it has been released from a ban on exporting to markets where Honda has a presence The group has set aside 100 crore for a new brand identity, which includes a new name, logo and positioning.

Hero Honda to reveal new brand identity in London on August 9

NEW DELHI: The country's largest two-wheeler maker Hero Honda will reveal its much-anticipated global brand identity in London on August 9, as it takes the first major step of establishing its new image after going solo following erstwhile Japanese promoter Honda's exit.

"...as a significant first step towards the company's transformation into a major global brand, we would be unveiling our new brand name and identity in London, United Kingdom, on August 9, 2011," the company said.

Earlier in March this year, the company had hired global brand and innovation specialist Wolff Olins to create its new brand identity. A part of the Omnicom group, Wolff Olins was mandated to work on the new brand identity in its totality, including the brand architecture, name, logo and positioning.

Later on, in May the two-wheeler major roped in Law & Kenneth (L&K) as a creative partner to launch and establish the new brand for the company. The independent brand communications firm was mandated to devise the new brand positioning of the company.

Hero Honda said it will also unfold a slew of strategic initiatives "which will allow us to further consolidate our leadership in India and also enter emerging markets globally."

The company had embarked on the journey to acquire a new brand name after the two joint venture partners of Hero Honda Motors Ltd (HHML) -- Hero Group of India and Honda Motor Co of Japan -- decided to part ways in December last year.

The Munjals-promoted Hero Group had agreed to buy out Honda's 26 per cent stake in HHML for Rs 3,841.83 crore.

As per an agreement signed between the two erstwhile partners, Hero can use the Honda brand till 2014, but it is understood that the Indian group wants to acquire a new identity of its own at the earliest in order to maintain its leadership position.

Hero Group and Honda had signed a new licensing agreement in March, under which the Indian firm will pay its Japanese counterpart 45 billion yen (about Rs 2,450 crore) till 2014.

I'm really waiting to check this new brand identity which should go with the name "Hero Moto". There's probably going to be new logos, punchlines, etc. as there are some serious people involved in this brand rejuvenation like L&K, etc. The results are going to be worth seeing. Let's keep an eye on the developments ...

Really cheap publicity stunt! Why would anybody want to get born and start their reborn in a totally Foreign land where nobody knows your name or history, and where your engine displacements would be considered, lawn movers and kids' bikes? They have no market their, they've got no products being sold in UK.

If they really want overseas recognition then why don't they develop some nice bikes of significant displacements, good design and high technology (well i.e other than the stickers) and export them?

Thumbs down for HH on this one, I'm glad I didn't buy an HH bike but rather from a self-respecting company like Honda.
                            Four wheels move a BODY,
                            Two wheels move a SOUL...
